lightning downloaded - advice please

Postby Caz » Fri Feb 11, 2005 5:30 am

Hello all, I have downloaded the lightning  originally done by-Kazunori Ito Textures by Andrew Stokes (AVA), from this website.
It is good fun, but i would ask those familiar with flying it for some advice please.
1. How do I navigate with it , apart from having to use the "display map" feature in FS2004. Is there a reference from where I can learn?
2. The "eyepoint  forward "  view doesn't work?  Yet I can go up or down . Is that meant to be so?
3. Can the drag chute be deployed on landing? if so, which button please?
4. How is the afterburner brought in?

Sorry if this is basic stuff, just got into the lightning!!
TIA
Caz

Mr. Ito's stuff is very good as far as textures go. Unfortunately, there's no real good complete panel available with ILS or even a VOR. For navigation, the Lightning used a military version of VORTAC called TACAN, which displayed a digital range and bearing which could be locked for ease of reading. Also available was the ATC read CADF which gave a ground displayed version of ADF. If a Lightning pilot was ever "temporarily unsure of his position" then a call to any 2 ATC frqs would get him a position. If you can find a digital DME gauge, you can add it to the panel, it'll work as long as you have a map on your knee. The Afterburner is Shift 4, but it doesn't seem to work with Mr.Ito's lightning. DSB has a better one, but it's payware.
