Chief,
The Audio CODECs are not a part of FS. They are part of the Windows Operating System. I know very little about them, except reinstalling them solved my sound problem about two years ago.
As I stated in my earlier post:
"If it's the Audio CODECs, you'll have to uninstall then reinstall from a Windows CD. If you need more details, go to the Microsoft website, locate the Knowledge Base and search for "Q177252". The title of this article is "Flight Simulator: No Instructor, Pilot or ATC Voices ......". With some luck, the instructions will apply to your system."
I don't know how to advise you any further. The way you do this will depend on which Operating System you have. That's why I suggested starting with the Microsoft Knowledge Base. You will also need the original Windows CDs to do an installation.
I can't guarantee that this will solve your ATC problem. Also, I don't know if DirectX could be causing the problem.
Good luck, Chief. Please let us know when your problem gets solved.
Regards,
JerryH
