I'd like to make a video and it says I should turn off hardware acceleration for better framerates.

1.) will fs run properly with acceleration turned off and

2.) if so, where do i turn it off (it is on, in the first place)?

You find it in , control panel/display/settings/ advanced/
troubleshooting/

I think it will disable your video card though?

I dont think FS2004 has a software mode.... which means you might not be able to turn off hardware acceleration for FS2004.  You can turn it off somewhere in your control panel... display options .
Cheers,
