i have never had a plane go into a flat spin in FS, never heard of someone accomplishing it either ::)

me thinks it's one of the many flaws of FS's flight modeling...

IL-2 Sturmovik is a game that brings some decent flat spins, i can't remember how many times i found myself spinning in this game, it's awesome - and notoriously lethal
if you're below 3000ft don't even try to recover, just JUMP it's so cool......

but i don't see that happening in FS... why?

just curious....its kind of like the "last great stunt" I tried for hours one day...I started out at KOSH, then just flew in a circle until about 10,000 in the Extra....leveled off....cut power....pulled up...stomped on the right rudder...and nothing. I think the flaw with that is...the Extra is a stable a/c. I think tonight I'll try it in the Cessna, or the A6M6...just curious to see if anyone can or ever has done it.

I've done it before, its not to hard if you find the right plane, never could do it in the extra though

Ive done it in the Extra, right after I finished my rudder pedals (they are home made), it was an accident. Ive also done it with several planes in CFS1, it can be kind of usefull in combat. Ive only had it result in a crash one time, I was too low...

Some addon planes will do a flat spin, though you generally need the realism sliders maxxed for it to be able to happen.

I think Carenado's Mentor is the one I find it easiest to do it in, but there are a few others out there that will do it, just gotta find the technique to get em in it.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

I've managed it in the default Cessna 172 and Piper J3 Cub. All 3 times (twice in 172, once in Cub) I bit the dust due to the nature of a true flat spin.

A true flat spin is unrecoverable, all else was just an onset of a flat spin.

I actually got myself into an accidental inverted flat spin once in the Extra.  I don't remember the exact terminology, but I was trying to do a pushover out of a straight-up climb.  My airspeed was too low and the a/c started a tail slide at the same time I pushed my yoke in.  My tail came out from under me and my nose pitched over my head.  It might have been recoverable if I didn't sit there saying, "Wow, that's cool," as an inverted horizon spun around me.

I did it once with the RealAir Cessna 172 files...got up to 15000ft over Chino, CA, and entered the spin. I recovered, and did it again...that time I didnt recover....extra fun if you have Active Cam, as your view pins to one side...
