Someone help please!

Postby rickster2 » Sat Mar 27, 2004 11:08 pm

I need someone to help me resolve a problem with one of my panels I've downloaded for my AWACS jet.  When in cockpit view, the windows are blacked out.  Also the landing gear and other parts of the jet appears to be missing.  Is there anyone out there experiencing similar problems with their aircraft?  It seems to be rather difficult getting people to respond to questions in this forum :(

rickster2,

I have seen panel instruments come up blank because I forgot to install the gauges that came with the panel.

Regarding the missing landing gear, etc, others here have said that that can happen if the plane was built for fs2002 and the gear is not compatible with fs2004.

It would be helpful if you could tell us exactly what jet you are working with and exactly what panel you are trying to install.  If might ring a bell with someone who has experience with that combination.

To fix the landing gear do a search for fs9.cfg. Make sure you set to search hidden folders. Make a backup of the file before working with it just in case then open it in Wordpad or Notepad. Go down to where it says:

[FrameCallNoWarn]
full=1

Yours will have a 0 instead of a 1. Change that to a 1 and then save the file using the "save" not the "save as" command.

That will fix landing gear and flaps. For prop planes that don't show a prop there isn't anything to do.

The panel sounds like it was saved as the wrong type of bitmap or the colors weren't saved the way ACOF wants them. It sounds like you are trying to adapt a FS2002 or earlier airplane for ACOF. You can with some but often it isn't perfect. You'll probably need someone who knows about panel making to fix that for you.

 By any chance did you get a warning message when you started  FS9 after you installed the offending plane. stating found software not supported by FS 9 do you want to run it  OK or NO.
  If you noticed no landing gear on the plane than the plane was either designed wrong or more than likely a FS2002 plane. FS2004 will not propley display aicraft made for FS2002 without some kind of change made to them.

Gary. The later FS2002 aircraft created with FSDS2 or Gmax should display fine in FS2004. It's only the earlier FSDS1 designs that cause problems. From Rickster's description this is an early FS2000/2 model wiith no DVC or interior views. The gear animation will usually work but animated turbines will not. If you get the "incompatible software" warning message on selecting the aircraft always click the No option. This does the same thing as manually editing Aircraft.cfg afterwards as WebbPA suggested & is the best you will get.

When in cockpit view, the windows are blacked out.

This is unlikely with FS2002/4 panels but the main panel BMP might need a tweak. Check out my CFS Panel Clinic. http://www.simviation.com/lair/CFSpc.htm
