Flying level?

Guys, how do you fly level? In my controls it says that control-z is for autopilot level. It doesn't work. Is there any other key(s) to make my plane level?

Any help is appreciated.

when you press Ctrl+z, you activate the altitude hold switch on the autopilot, but it does you no good if the autopilot is not on...

press Z to activate the autopilot or press that little button marked "ap"

First of all, what aircraft are you flying. Cntrl+z is the autopilot altitude hold. If the plane you are flying doesn't have an autopilot then that won't work and you'll have to hand fly it. Adjusting the trim will help you. That's done with (NumPad) 7&1 with the Num Lock turned off.

Also make sure you have the avionics turned on. I've done that and tried to engage the AP then wondered what was wrong when nothing happened.  :o

yeah be sure to adjust your trim each time you change power settings. if you have the trim set correctly, you can take your hands off the controls and the plane should fly level, no need for the autopilot  it also helps tremendously for landings to keep you close to the correct pitch attitude and airspeed.

On a laptop you might have to go in and change some key assignments. Some Laptops have keys that work for a Numperpad and some don't. If yours doesn't then you can assign another key combinaiton to the trim function. Look under "Settings"/"Assignments" in your ACOF main menu. You'll be able to change from there.
