How would you create a panel?

Postby I love BOEING » Mon Feb 04, 2008 4:48 am

It's a question raised by me. Now, good panels should have the identical features like the real cockpit. But, some panels are so terrible done that i don't know how to use it. Take Boeing 737-400 and Boeing 737-300 panel. Some gauges are MISSING! But not all are bad, example are HJG Boeing 707, their panel are excellent.

I wonder how do you create a panel and gauges with free software like the HJG does. And, if there is any suggustion of a good panel, please state it down, it had been a issue for me finding a perfect panel other than payware.

Hi Benjamin. I don't know which panels these are but I suspect they were intended for FS9. It's quite possible they use FS9 default gauges which are not included in FSX. It's also possible you didn't install the missing gauges or they're incompatible with FSX. It should be easy enough to replace the missing gauges with ones that work by manually editing Panel.cfg in Notepad. Use a default Panel.cfg for reference.

I wonder how do you create a panel and gauges with free software like the HJG does.

I don't know of any free panel design software suitable for FSX unless something is included in the FSX SDKs. I think most serious panel designers use FS Panel Studio. http://www.fspanelstudio.com/

Sorry no, but I haven't looked for one. The HJG panels are supposed to be compatible with FSX but I suspect that would depend on which version of FSX you have. http://www.simviation.com/hjg/panels/boeing.htm
There are so many possible variables now that it's all becoming terribly complicated. ::)
