VTOL flight is not possible in FS except for helicopter flight models.

There are a number of good payware Harriers around, I think both DSB and Alphasim have released some fairly recently.

I've seen a number of aircraft that are capable of it.

You can get very very close, but the system used to simulate VTOL requires forward speed.

You can get down to about 5 knots forward airspeed. This either requires forward motion or a headwind.

Extreme STOL works with fixed wing airfiles, VTOL doesn't.

If it hovered with no forward airspeed there are several possibilities:

1. You had a headwind.
2. You were looking at the airspeed guage and it was designed to bottom out above the VSTOL speed.
3. You were dreaming. :)

VTOL is simply not possible in a fixed-wing airfile in FS...no ifs, ands or buts...

Which payware Harrier were you flying?
