You appear to have do it all correctly, for each addon aircraft you should have a folder containing:

*name*.air file
aircraft.cfg file
panel folder
sound folder
model folder
texture folder(s)

and any other files such as text files, images etc...

If this is all correct then thats it, look for the aircraft in the aircraft menu and go fly!

My best advice is to read this tute carefully. http://www.simviation.com/acinstall.htm

Make sure you haven't installed the aircraft inside another folder as shown in the illustration.

The folder you want is the one with the green tick, not the red cross. This is the most common cause of aircraft not displaying on the menu. If in doubt, open the folder of any default flyable aircraft to see how it should look.

Hey guys thanx for the advice.  Unfortunately I am unable to find the aircraft.  One thing I should make sure is that the file I downloaded is a plane or some kind of upgrade.  I have downloaded files as big as 16MB and others around 1-2MB and neither work.  I don't know what else to say because I thought I followed the directions they have about installing aircraft on this site.  Thanks again for the advice.

One question I had about the installation procedures was the designation of "Temp Folder."  I am not very good with computers and don't know the difference between that and any other folder.

There really is no difference, a Temp folder is just somewhere to extract the .zip to, that you can then delete once you have installed the aircraft fully.

Hey got some good news.  Downloaded the SR 71 and it worked!!!  Thanx.  Just what the usual size is for an aircraft compared to an add on like a new paint scheme or cockpit.  That could be the reason why the other aircraft aren't showing up because I did the procedure exactly the same.

im afraid sizes vary a lot. the best thing to do is to look at what folders you have, and whats in them, a complete aircrfat will have the 4 folders i mentioned above, which will contain:

Model:
*aircraft name*.mdl
model.cfg

Panel
Panel.cfg
May contain .bmp images

Sound:
Sound.cfg
May contain .wav sounds

Texture (may be more than 1 eg texture.1 texture.2):
Bitmap images

If you have all these then its probable a full aircraft. A texture addon, for example, will most likely just contain the texture folder, and a install file, telling you what lines to put into aircraft.cfg to get the aircraft to show up.

Hey it is me again.  Sorry about being a slow learner here.  I have compared downloaded planes to default ones and they seem to be almost exact.  I can't find anything that is missing.  You probably don't have any more advice to give but if you do I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanx

Well thanks for the advice I hadn't been doing that before.  I found that the planes that I did manage to get had the same thing in the read.me file as the others.  anyways I will keep trying and really appreciate your help.

no worries, as the name says, always read the readme, because it tells you how to install. After a while you'll get the hang of it.  :D
