Yeah, there's an FS2002 model that is spanking gorgeous but it won't run in CFS2.  Bugger.

Check out the tute here. How to make FS2002 Aircraft mdl work in CFS2 By Sergio Dolcemascolo http://www.simviation.com/fsdcfs%5B1%5D.htm

It works fine on all the FS2002 aircraft I've tried it on. There's also a little beta utility (now updated) that does much the same thing. It works very well on the aircraft I've tried but still has a few bugs. http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=cfs2;action=display;num=1079379786
You might also need to change the texture format with DXTBmp & do a simple Aircraft.cfg tweak.

PS. Converted FS aircraft would be purely for your own use unless you get the author's permission to post them. With a few notable exceptions I don't think this is likely. Most designers would prefer to do the work themselves.

This is John Woodside's original FS2002 Tiger Moth over RAF Hawkinge in CFS2.

Unlike John's latest updated Tiger Moth this early version has only 2 texture variations & no DVC. The textures work fine in CFS2 without conversion.

It took a couple of minutes to convert using Ivan Hsu's MDLC utility (latest beta39). This is going to be a very useful piece of kit although you need a basic knowledge of DOS to use the beta version. Otherwise the hex edit in the tute I mentioned works just as well.

Thanks Doug!  I'll get on to that this morning.

If you can't figure it out I can mail you my updated MDL files. The latest MDLC should convert even FS2004 defaults for use in CFS2.
