so just a question do you need any previous modeling skills with FSDS or not and is FSDS worth the money?

Yes, its worth the expense. Depending on what sim you want to build for, if you want to build for cfs2 then tell them when you are ordering and they may give you FSDS2 free when they send you FSDS3.
FSDS is quite easy to learn, and can import bmp's for plans as background. And no, previous experience is not a requirement.

To add to Collin's post:
*Technically* you can use FSDS 3 to model for CFS2, but you'd need to use the CFS2 gamepack and "fool" FSDS 3 to look for it. IT's easier to use FSDS2.
*Any* modelling program has its learning curve, many people (myself included) feel that it's a lot less steep than learning a full blown modelling program like gmax.
