Ntune would work, if not use your bios.

Lol, don't be such a sook F.

I modded my 7900GS bios as soon as I figured out the max stable overclock for it and it boots that way for the last year or so, ever since it was 3 days old. The video bios boots it at 650/825, down a pinch from my max obtainable clocks which were around 710/895.

This card has no volt mod or anything else and it runs cool as can be, rarely going much over 50*C

To overclock:

You can download coolbits2, It seems to work with the latest drivers, but I'm suspicious that the latest drivers have the overclocking function enabled, you just need to find the settings in the control panel.

This sounds a little confusing, well, I used to use coolbits (it's just a reg key hack like clicking a shortcut) and then one of the recent drivers reported that I would have to install ntune, which I did.

Since then, I uninstalled ntune, installed a new driver and the overclock functions work.

So, I'm not sure if the reg key is still enabled, however, a friend who just installed a new driver found the overclock functions enabled with no further action.

The function will test your settings before it allows you to enable them, and you can start the overclock at bootup if you wish, I just modded my bios so i didn't have to do anything ever again. If you have a gigabyte 7900GS, I can write a bios file for you once you figure out the clock you want, if you wish.

cheers!

Tee-Hee... ;D...!

Congo...I bet the Graphics Card Manufactures love Folks like PurpleHaze, who easily manage to fry their Graphics Card (etc) by over-clocking them...and then hurriedly rush down to their local "Graphics Card Supplier", to flush their palms with loadsamoney to buy a New/Improved/Better/Faster Graphics Card...

...which they should have done in the first bleedin' place...trust me...;)...LOL... ;D...!

F....LOL... ;D...!

P.S.....Cheers Congo!... ;)...!!

I normally don't advise clocking graphics cards F, it's just that the 7900GS's seem to thrive on a good clocking

Ok sorry for double post but. I have no idea what im doing really but using ntune i clocked my core bus at 606 mhz and my memory 803 mhz and the card runs a stable 58 C. Should i do something else or is there anything else i can do to help improve performance.

IMHO Oc Gfx card is safer(and worlds easyer) than CPU.

I OC my Gfx card 2-5 Mhz at a time. I do that to the core, find the max and then the ram and find the max. I know I have hit the max when I start seein artifacting in games or other graphical applications. In most cases the gfx card will reach it's limit and artifact severly before you hit a problem with heat. Back in the day before heat sensors you had to be very careful.

Gfx cards can take and operate at much higher heat loads than the CPU. I used to see my 7800gtx run at 70C and freak the flip out but 70C is nothing really. A Gfx card will take damage when it goes over 100C or so. I would love to put my gfx under the ice but that would require A:another phase unit or B: a split in my current line severly degrading cpu temps.

What I was saying in a nut shell is OC slow. If you get your overclock utility going and crank 100 Mhz out of the card in one shot your are likely to run into problems.  Overclock in 2-5 Mhz increments and don't do the GPU and vRAM at the same time because then if it starts artifacting you don't know what is doing it.

@ Fozzer hey if he should/ needs to buy a better gfx card and hes going to dish out a bunch of money regardless then why dosen't he send the old one on it's way to computer heaven before he does it Haha. Trust me finding the max OC for a CPU or GFX chip is better. For your performance it it will sell for more on Ebay.... ;D
