Good settings cpu/Ram??

Hi need some clarifications please
Bios setting for video card:
reads: Primary video adaptor reads = Auto.
should it not read EXT PVIE Graphics (PEG)

Ram
bios says it is 667 Mhz
analizer says it is PC2 5300 (333MHZ) Corsair
question which is it?

Ram Timings.
timing freq.  329.42
FSB DRAM  4:5
Cas Lat    5.0 Clocks
RAS Cas  5
RAS PRE  5
Cycle time 15
Bank cycle time 21 clocks
are those timings good or can they be improved upon??

Mobo D975BX
chipset i975x
socket 775LAG
Intel conroe E6600
duo 2  2.4MHZ
is that good and can the speed be improved upon ??

DDR2 =  Dual Data Rate. 333mhz @ DDR2 = 667mhz.

Automatic GPU selection, works fine.

Timings not too bad. Not sure why you've got the 4:5 divider there. Get rid of it 8-)

Last section is just your spec. 2.4Ghz not Mhz If you want me to state an improvement, overclock it! (Also the P965 chipset would better suit the E6600).

Divider should be changed to 1:1... not sure how to do that on your motherboard.

The divider setting coupled with the cpu and mainboard's limitation is going to determine the max overclock you can get. Setting a divder of 1:1 won't get you very far in the overclock with that ram.

Why?

They just do apparently. The 965 can hit higher FSBs, which is where Conroe systems conk out. The chipset usually dies on FSB before the CPU dies on clock speed.

When I recommended the 1:1 divided I was talking about his system in its current state: ie. not overclocked. In a stock-clock system, there's no need for the divider.

Are you sure you have your information right, Everything I've read so far points to the fact that the best conroe overclockers were the 975X boards. But I could be behind the times, as far as Iknew it was the 975's that were giving up the 4ghz overclocks, not the 965's.

Not only that, the 975's are typically a lot less trouble to work with and have a lot more features THAT WORK without the dramas of the newer chipset. Like

AAnother thing GeForce, even if you are right, which you probably are, you are probably talking about the difference of just a few mhz, ie. clockspeeds attained by the very best overclockers in the game with the best ram and other components available..... at a cost mind you.

Oh I definitely agree. There's almost no difference, but from what I've heard the 965s seem to be hitting slightly higher FSBs than the 975X counterparts. But I agree that the difference is minimal, and of course not worth an upgrade for the extra few Mhz.

The disadvantages of the 975X are that is doesn't support DDR2-800 and it has the ICH7R southbridge, which is not as good as the ICH8 of the P965.

I'm only going on what I've read on forums etc, as I don't have an Intel system myself.

As far as I was aware the Asus P5WDH (975X) was the first mainboard to consistently get 4ghz overclocks on Conroe.

The 975X most certainly does support 800mhz ram and higher. It's Southbridge supports 1 less SATA port (3 instead of 4) but it has PATA (IDE) support where the 965 chipset's Southbridge does not, so while being trendy, the 965 simply reduces practical functions rather than adds them.

Suffice to say that the 975X boards are preferable in many ways, and this is reflected by their high cost in comparison to boards based
