OS the good, the bad

Postby sonic » Sun Feb 17, 2008 9:31 pm

This is Like the chicken or the egg, but I've seen several things about vista I like namely DX10 but what do you use. Its getting time to Switch I think for me but I was waiting on a few more driver versions and SP1? I added Linux but I just cant use it much Although I do use Knoppix alot some of my software just isnt compatable.

I currently use XP on 3 computers and Windows 95 on one. I plan to use XP for my gaming needs but I am thinking of Dx10 and Dx10.1. I don't know if Vista should be a good choice for gaming. I trust and rely on XP. It's a good OS and I like it.  :)

Vista 64bit..

I've got Linux on my backup machine.. I made an honest effort to adopt it as a primary O/S last year; it's just too much work.. Windows is too easy.

Vista will eat your system alive. I recomend nothing less than 2.5 gbs of RAM for vista.

Iv got Vista Home Premium 63bit in retrospect I think i should have stayed with 36bit as thare are more drivers about but the 64bit stuff is coming through thick and fast now so every works as it should.

Keep looking at the prices of Vista tho and Retail prices are Huge for Vista, Im just glad I got my Vista OEM as it only Cost me

Well I have a copy of vista that came with my HP I actually really liked how it looked, and performance wasnt bad really But I just like the streamlined simplicity of XP but I remember saying the same thing going from 98 to xp LOL. There will be a day I say the same thing who would want to use XP instead of Vista.

At first I dual booted XP and Vista on this acer but eventually realized XP was just taking up space so I got rid of it, I run vista for everything and haven't had a single problem. I don't know why people hate it so much.... sure more ram helps but I run 1gb fine and dandy..... Full specs in sig

Windows XP SP2 for simplicity, and effortless reliability, on my Main Hard Drive.

Windows '98SE on my second, boot-able, Hard Drive (running my "old" 3DFX Voodoo 3-3000 Graphics Card), for all my lovely "old" games... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Paul... 8-)...!

What's "Vista"?... ::)...

...this is what Vista is... ;)...>>>

If you have old hardawre, and old software, Vista is NOT for you..

If you have new hardware, and can upgrade or purchase new software, Vista-64 bit IS for you. The most imortant step up into XP, is that it was a TRUE 32-bit O/S. Uprading from XP to Vista 32-bit isn't going to do you much good.... and eventually, running a 32-bit O/S is going to be as pointless as running Windows98 is now.

No point in getting emotional about it.. and complaining that MS releases buggy software is like complaining about inefficiency in government. We're just along for the ride  ::)
