Office 2007

Postby Overspeed » Wed Aug 02, 2006 9:44 am

I downloaded the beta for MS Office 2007 and I had some Q's to anyone who has downloaded and installed it before i do it myself:

1) Have you installed it?
2) Has it screwed up your computer in any way?
3) Is it backwards compatible to Office 2003?

Thanks

Same answers as Cameron:

1: Yes I have
2: No it has not
3: As far as I can tell.

I have it installed on Windows Vista and that combo runs smooth. I'm planning to test the Vista/FS9 combo in the coming weeks ...

But I've found out that with Outlook 2007 I could not open my outlook.pst, unless I had administrative priviledges, which is turned of by default ...

I've had my outlook.pst since I have Office 2000 and I migrated it everytime I upgraded to a newer version of Office. I store it in a folder in 'My Documents' which is on my E: partition ...

To open the pst file I needed to turn of the thing that disables your administrative priviledges. I can't remember what it's called (I'm at work so I can't check :-[) But it's in the Control Panel under 'user accounts'.

BTW: you can't run Outlook

is there a way to have both office 2007 and 2003 both on your computer at the same time?

EDIT: ok, i found out how to keep my older versions as well, but it said that it will delete the older version of outlook. How do i prevent setup from installing outlook?

You can't ... as I said in my previous post (see above) you can run Office 2003 and Office 2007 next to each other but Outlook 2007 will not run next to Outlook 2003. Period. There's no (known) other way to work around this.

I've installed Vista and Office 2007 on dual boot and that works great! I just add my outlook.pst from outlook 2003 in outlook 2007 and that works fine!
