I dont know what I would do with them, but Im sure some of you sim builders could use them for something. maybe make a virtual reality system with 2 of them? that would be cool.

Hey, I just had a thought. What if you took one of these, stripped it down, and put it in a slide projector? would it project a quality image? I imagine it would take some major cooling.

Tacitblue,

For an initial idea that is brilliant.  There may be issues that prevent the thing from actually working.... but it is a good starting point.  There is a major article noted elsewhere in this forum on converting an lcd screen to a projection monitor using and overhead projector that overall costs less than $300.  Maybe this is another way to do that.

One drawback to those units is that they are NTSC inputs...... TV.... not SVGA or XVGA.  So the resolution issue mifght be big.

best,

.................john

Oh yeah, forgot about them having TV inputs.

Ive seen plans for the overhead projector thing, I would like to try it, but I cant bring myself to pay $150 for a monitor that Im just going to take apart.

I was considering making a GPS module, but I was afraid that the resolution wouldnt be good enough. Besides, Im not building a simpit yet.

Tacitblue,

Actually, then I guess I already have. Remember my keyboard question not to long ago? I found great info on simpits.org, followed their directions, and now I have a panel/box with several aircraft-looking buttons and switches.
I do want to go the whole 9 yards some day, but for now I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment, so I am limited as to what I can build in there.
