I think you can.

And there can be no harm in trying.

However, SLI is when the videocards are working in parallel. You need two identical nvidia videocards and a SLI capable motherboard to use SLI. Since you do not have this, all of the load will be on the 9800GTX. The 6600 won't be doing anything, except idling.

IIRC, with certain NVIDIA cards you can use dissimilar cards. However, only one will handle video while the other will handle physics processing. I believe both cards must be a certain model (8xxx or later?).

In certain configurations FSX might benefit from a straight SLI configuration, with identical cards, but it does not benefit at all from PhysX, or for having an extra card dedicated as such.

If you just want to use 3 monitors the answer to your question is "YES"

SLI is not an option with 3 monitors anyway.

The second observation is incorrect.

With the cards in question if he tried SLI he can only run 2 monitors and they both have to be connected to the same card.

For whatever reason I thought you were speaking in general, and I was thinking 400/500 series cards with Nvidia Surround.  You are, afterall, correct, sir...My mistake. :)

http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardw ... 5770_flex/

"......Sapphire has decided that you should be able to power three DVI monitors on a single Radeon HD 5XXX card. They've proved this by releasing the HD 5770 FLEX. The FLEX is the very first 5XXX series card with the ability to power three DVI monitors right out of the packaging......"

Sorry but please disregard above requests for help.

Overclockers verified to me:-

1. that Ati Radeaon 5770 Flex will run FSX, it does not !!.

2. that all cables needed for 3 screens are in the box, none usable was found, & 4 cables needed extra
