2 joysticks to one PC

Postby Rat Tat Tat » Sun Dec 19, 2010 1:05 pm

Does this make sense? Can I connect 2 USB joysticks to the same pc running CFS2 and CFS3? One stick for CFS2 and the other for CFS3. I currently use a Logitech Attack 3 stick for both sims but I want to splurge and try another stick with more bells and whistles in one of them.

Both plugged in at the same time?...Yes. You can assign the 'extra' buttons and axis available on the second joystick.

With both connected they will both be recognized, and available as seperate assignments, in the sims.

With both connected, the sim will assign default actions to both, so you'll probably end up with duplicate assignments, causing conflicts. You'll have to (re)assign the buttons and axis for each.

Set up your 'primary' stick. On the 'secondary' joystick be sure to delete the X, Y, (and Z) axis assignments so they don't conflict. You can assign it's remaining buttons and axis. (You can also re-assign the X, Y, and Z if you can find a use for them.)

If you don't want to assign the second joystick, just plug in one at a time. If you prefer to leave both plugged in, delete all of the assignments for the 'unused' joystick.

Dave

Edit-for example, my second joystick is an old Logitech that I have cobbled to use a rudder pedals. Makes crosswind landings and flying helicopters possible.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Hey RTT

Like Dave says you can use more than one joystick on your computer. I have found that even identical hardware with the same assignments work in FSX. I am not sure how that would work in CFS2 and CFS3. I have a duel station simpit that uses identical Saitek yokes, pedals, throttles and one joystick for helo and Airbus ops.
Dave I love the ingenious use of the twist rudder feature of the joystick and converted it to a usable pedal set up. Very Cool!

Peace
Mark
