ASUS Motherboard Drivers

Postby raptorx » Fri May 23, 2008 2:37 pm

I'm looking at an Asus Rampage Formula.  I would like to know if the chipset drivers on the supplied CD are good enough or should I go to the Asus site and download all the latest chipset drivers and install them manually one at a time.  I know the CD can do it in the right order but I'm not sure I can.

Intel chipset?

I never use the CD unless its so new there are no updates

I always go directly to intel for the latest chipset drivers and also visit the Asus support website for BIOS and other software updates

On some motherboards I skip Asus and go directly to the website for the onboard device... like onboard sound or NIC. You have to know what you are doing and ID the device correctly but i rarely use anything on the CD that comes with the motherboard.

there are however exceptions and sometimes the Asus drivers for things like onboard sound and NIC are designed specifically for the board and you can only get working drivers from the CD or the support website but I will usually get them all from the website and not bother with the CD

The x48's are not posted at intel yet so you would have to use the CD or Asus as the source until Intel posts then at their support site

when they are posted they will be listed under the "4" series chipset
