Project: P.S.U.

As you know I'm getting an 8800GT for my Dell XPS 410. What was lurking in the fine print, my 375watt PSU isn't going to stand up to it. Soooo I have to get the PSU first before the 8800GT. I have my eye on this PSU  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817103941
It's 550W, more than I would need, and it's has Modular cables!
Would that be good?

Not only about wattage, but the efficiancy and what they're rated for on various 'rails'. That power supply should run it, but for that price, I would look at Corsair and PC Power & Cooling power supplies.

All Vodka Burner said, and I've also heard a few not so good things about modular cable attachments causing clearence problems in some computer cases. Make sure you have the room for it.

A quality 500W should be suitable, however your Dell motherboard power connector might be own type, not ATX

I have an Antec Earthwatts 500w PSU up in my 8800GT with plenty of watts to spare. No problems, SUPER quite.

There are 4 mounting screws outside of the case, the size is
Height: 3 12/16 inches
Length:5 1/2 inches
Depth: 5 3/4 inches
The motherboard is a standard ATX form factor.

Oh, and if anyone can help me in the FSX forum, with my problem that would be great. The topic is: Odd problem after Vista SP1 install.

PC Power and cooling offers direct dell replacements

however the highest they go is 470 with a peak of 520

The 610 may work.. you need to call or contact PCP&C for an engineer to spec that if you dont know how to look at the sheet and convert the size numbers to inches

Newer Dell cases and motherboards, in my experiance, work fine with newer power supplies. I would say there's a very high chance of it working - it did on my old pc, we did however, have to drill holes into the back of the case to let the on and off switch on the power supply poke through.

Just make sure everything will fit be measuring, counting pins and so on...
