Ch yoke and pedals...

Postby cloud9 » Sat Apr 01, 2006 6:01 pm

Should I... ??? I really like the package and am moving away from my old home to where I probably won't be able to continue lessons for a bit  so I really want realism.  What do you think ???

Go for it I don't think you'll regret it. I know I didn't. For the money they are very good and realy transform the sim.
If your not part of the answer    your part of the problem!

Pedals alone will transform the sim. Heck just putting my throttle beside my leg and stick in between my legs (like flying a fighter) transformed my sim. But add a yoke to your GA flying this will be quite amazing.

Another thing to consider along with these, would be some new hardware, and payware sceenery and aircraft to make your sim truely real. Now I dont know your PC specs, however getting say a newer GPU (7600GT say), the Canerado C206, and GE, and Ultamate Terrain  from Flight 1 could make earning your PPL at home very real.

Cheers

Don't let the price scare you, it will be the best investment you will make for your simming!

I own every bit CH has to offer and love all of it, the best you can buy.
Not to mention you won't find support like CH provides anywhere, check out thier forums

http://www.ch-hangar.com/

The people resonsible for building this stuff are there everyday and answer every post or email about anything you may need to ask! You can even call them if you have issues and they answer the phones not some hired recepionist that is reading a trouble shooting guide, LOL!

It is that reason alone that I started "collecting" CH products and also part of the reason they are the only products I use, the other part is that there are none better for the price  ;)

Some will say they look "cheap" and that they may but it is the actually parts that make or break a a set up. It is the quaility that is built into them that sets them apart for all the rest.

Ok I got it and I love it but have one question.  How do I set the prop and mixture axis. I want the prop to be carb heat (if possible) and mixture to be mixture.

Thanx

I just tried and it didn't work (didn't think it would) using the assignment screen. Carb heat is an all-or-nothing (on or off) function ,, so it has to be either a button or keyboard thing. I think it's "H" by default.

It'd be like trying to do the reverse; making the prop-rpms a button.. all or nothing.. high or low with nothing in between.

But, I could be wrong and wouldn't be surprised if someone's figured out a way to do it..

I would think to assigne the carb heat to a axis you would need to use the Control Manager software (recomend downloadng the newest version).

What I like with the CH stuff is that you dont need to really do anything for FS9 just plug it in and go.

Control manager although tricky to learn is sweet. Im still learning the ins and outs of it. But with the help of a profile I have all 5 CH items set up for IL2, and with the mouse button on the pro thrpttle I can click it and swap between joystick or yoke depending on which aircraft Im going to fly. So CM will give you a lot of versitility.

You can get a lot of help and also get the Control Manager for Dummies from the CH Hanger in the link posted above.

I've been meaning to tinker with that control mananger.. sounds like it's useful and fun..

The only changes I made to the default assignments was to get rid of the rudder-trim (I rarely use it and when I do.. a panel-based, mouse operated one is fine) and make one side of that toggle the altimeter-set and the other the directional-gyro set. A quick wiggle of my right thumb and both are set ...

Also.. I change the left "trigger" from brake (got that on the pedals) to "open atc window".. Kinda like a push-to-talk.

If I could think of something useful for the right trigger (knee board).. I'd change it too.

Any suggestions ?
