SLi once again pwned

Postby ctjoyce » Sun Jan 29, 2006 3:41 am

And This time by a single card ;) Yes boys and girls ATi has once again outdone nVidias cards with the release of the X1900XTX. 48 pixel pipelines, 625Mhz core clock, 725Mhz memory clock, and a 3DMark05 (1600x1400 4x AA 8xAF)score of 9175 vs nVidia's 7800GTX 512MB of 7813. The nvidia cards were once again beat out in duel card setups. Crassfire scored a 12429 with SLi x16 got 11664. Now when Quad SLi and the 7900 series from nVidia comes out (aprox June '06) ATi will again have some competition, but until then watch out.

I've alawaies said ATi cards are better and once again I am right. Sorry to all you 7800GTX owners who thought you were king, but your now in the ranks of peon to the new R580 cores of ATI.

If you have $605 and want to get your hands on one of these puppies you can by clicking here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814102671

Cheers

What does "pwned" mean...?

...and does "alawaies" means always...?

The slang term pwn (past tense pwned and other possible variants, such as pwnt) as used by the Internet gaming culture, means to dominate an opponent (pwned can mean "to be made a fool of"). While the term probably originated as a typographical error of the word own, it is now used intentionally by many members of the culture. The term has become so ubiquitous in Internet circles that it is often used outside of gaming contexts.

I think the other is a problem between brain & keyboard....  ;D

One product comes out, does better than another, and people act like its the best thing ever, Chill out CT because Nvidia will come back up eventually, and They will once again try to out do each other (ATI and Nvidia) but I do believe the Nvidia 7800 has some features the ATI Card can only dream off, saw some screen shots of the new half life 2 demo on an ATI and a 7800 Looked much better on the 7800, who cares about a 3dmark score when the card does its job well? Cheers, Gunny

Oh stop gloating Cameron, the fact remains that nVidia are still producing the best value for money video cards in almost every category, I would certainly buy ATI products if I could afford to be that extravagant, it's always been the same, though ATI's prices don't look as high as they used to because the general price range is so much higher now.

Actually I beg to differ. Look at the X800GTO vs the 6600GT. Most 6600s are about $175, and the X800 is $150, not only is it chaper, but better. Also the X1900XTX is cheaper than the 7800GTX 512MB so for the most part nVidia is cheaper, but not all the way across the board.

Not in my neck of the woods they aren't, consistently higher price everywhere, always have been.

And I'm not interested in what cards 90% of the population can only dream about. You included or you would rush out and buy one with all your enthusiasm.

Well I work at Staples (office supply chain) makeing about $7.50 an hour. However I get discounts from newegg.com because I am a platnum account holder. So if I were to buy the card, it would only cost me $550, which is cheaper than an SLi setup ;) The other nice thing about being a school boy with a job is that I just have my hobbies and car to pay for, I dont have to worry about food, clothe, and shelter.

But on a serious note, I dont think I will upgrade to this until it comes out in DX10. My X800 XTPE is serveing me quite well as far as I'm concirned.
