What im going to order this weekend...

Postby Alphajet_Enthusiast » Thu Oct 27, 2005 12:36 pm

With my parents having given the go ahead, this is the new setup im going to order this weekend.

Any suggestions? Id been thinking of a mac but decided against the idea in favour of familiarity with the Microsoft environment...  8)

Indeed its Dutch...
The motherboard was higher up the page so I couldnt get it in. I decided on an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe.

Will let you know once it arrives... hope the shipping doesnt take too long.  :)

Do they supply the adapter to fit your AMD Athlon 64 to the P4 mainboard or are you just going to use a hammer to fit it?

Maybe they have an adapter to fit the cpu to a Mac system?

You do have a mainboard listed there in your list, but it won't take a Pentium 4 or an Apple CPU.

The DDR2 RAM should be an interesting fit as well, depending on what mainboard your supplier decides to send you in all that confusion, you may need a double sided hammer.

;D

I can't believe those prices, or that anyone would consider paying them. They are close to 100% more than I pay in Australia for parts.

The video card should easily be a 7800GT for that money.

45 pounds for a mouse? Are you high?

That monitor sucks.

Go get your dad, we need to talk.

You mean MSI K8N right? As Congo said the AMD won't like it if you try to fit it to a P4 board. :o

45 pounds for a mouse, 23 for a keyboard? You can easily get a sufficent wireless keyboard across the pond for about $25(probably 15-20 pounds), and a wireless mouse for about $50(somwhere around 35-40 pounds.

When I built my last rig for a freind he tried to do the same thing with the motherboards, I told him it wouldnt work and he wouldnt listen, so i refused to build it.

BTW WE BEAT TOWNSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D our football teams record 1-7

Very nice setup, but why limit your graphical potential with an SLI 6800 setup, when a 7800GT/GTX in single configuration will give better results, and, you'll have a spare SLI slot for a future addition of another 7800.

Thats what I'd do.  ;)

The 6800's are very good, the 7800's are very much better.  8)

Man, that is unbeliveably expensive. :o Ebay do lovely mice and keyboards all the time. I hope that one has gold trimmings to it. ;)

This 7800GT is quite a lot cheaper than the older card you specified.
