250w is too low, especially as the PSU is generic.  Generic PSUs don't give as much power as they say they do.  It would explain why it dies in games, where the power usage is at its highest.  What other components have you got in your comp, right down to each fan.

I use a 350w Antec SL350 and i have absolutely no problems.

Hyvry1_Delta,  When I finnally found the wattage, I was sure that might be the problem.

Items inside the computer are: 1 100 GB HHD, 1 CD-RW drive, 1 DVD drive (play only), there are four fans, A psu fan, A cpu fan, A fan on the graffics card, and a cyclone blower fan made by Antec.

Also do you know how to disable the vidio card that is in the motherboard?

If you go into yor bios you may be able to disable it there, this is if your mobo is jumperless.  If it is not you will need to look up your mobos manual for the jumper settings to do this.  You may also be able to find this info on the net.

Try removing hardware not necessary to your systems operation, then run FS9, if still crashes it may your PSU if way under powered for the job or something else, if it fixes it it will be your PSU and getting a newer, higher power rated, non Generis one will sort out the problem.

Hyvry1_Delta, The over heating I'm sure now is in the psu, disconected both the dvd and cd drives, with screen res at 1260 x 980 and had no lockups, reconected them and in abt 20 min., locked up. By reduceing my screen res down to 1024 x 768 I can run for a couple of hours. So I'll be getting a new psu as soon as I can.

As for disabling the on board graffics card, talked to the manufactur. Turns out that when I installed a new card the on board one is disabled automaticly. Thats good at least.

Thanks for the help.

I find that site predicts it too high.

If you list your complete system specs we could decide what would be best.  A 350W Antec/Enermax or Thermaltake will be ok if you don't o/c.

Bird man, I went to the site and is says I need 310.

Hyvry1_Delta, I've listed my spec's below, that is except for the second monitor I'm trying to set up.

I found a locale soarce for a 450 watt Antec PSU today for under $60, I think I'll get it. They didn't have a 350 watt one. And I don't really want to put a 300 in, that would not be much of an upgrade I'm afraid.

One other thing I forgot in my spec's, my processor is a 1.8

The 450 Antec will be perfect.  You will instantly know the quality of the Antec when you lift the thing.  It weighs so much more than other PSUs.  It feels so sturdy.  Also when i first put my Antec in my power rails went extremely level, where as my old generic PSU was jumping all over the place.  It will be quieter aswell.  Also your system temperature should decrease a bit.

Might as well get as big as you can! Especially with these new graphics cards on the way!

It will be quieter aswell.  Also your system temperature should decrease a bit

Not so quiet if its the only thing drawing air out of a case with no front/side air intakes with a P4c 3.2 and a 9800XT!! I think I may have to venture into the case modding comunity!

My temperatures after SimV browsing:
CPU - 42c
MB - 31c
GPU - 73c !!!!!!! What!!!!

After realising it was that hot - off came the cover and on goes the mini-room fan!

I hate to think what happens when I play games!!!!!

My GPU idles at 35C and maxes out at 40C (on a hot day, during a demanding game).

Hyvry1_Delta;   What is a GPU?

I've now got the antec 350 psu installed and an additional case fan. Didn't have one befor. There are two fans on the psu, one pulling from inside the case the other blowing it out.

I can only hookup to fans to be monitored to the mobo. I'm using speedfan to monitor but it only displys on temp on my task bar and not sure whitch one it is.

Just discovered that I can have speedfan window open on the other monitor, neat, at least I can watch both temps now.

What program do you use to monitor your fans?

GPU=Graphics Processing Unit

I use Gigabyte Motherboard Utility Manager.
I use the Overdrive feature on my 9600xt to tell me my GPU temperature.

My case fan is hooked up straight to the PSU so it is not recorded by the motherboard.

Hyvry1_Delta, Haven't had a chance to fly just yet, sence I had to take down the comp, I decided to rearrange the desk and move everything around. I have at least taken a look and found that the flickering of the curser has stoped. Looking at speedfan right now and it says one fan is ok @ 49c and the other is cool @ 36c not sure witch one is witch :)

Is "Gigabyte Motherboard Utility Manager" a program that can be d/l, or did it come with your comp?
