ATI drivers

Postby cavity » Thu Nov 06, 2003 12:06 pm

Hi, if you download the new Cat 3.9 drivers, please post your impressions on them.  The other thread implies that a system crash may be occurring and if we can prevent that from happening to others it will go a long way to keep frustration levels down.  I plan on installing them tonight and will report my findings as soon as possible, crash or no crash.  Thanks in advance...Cavity

Well, Ill be the guinea pig, if it helps fix the problem, Ill go for it.  Im not all that impressed with the performance I have anyway, so I guess Ill see what happens.  I always sit there wondering if it is going to take six hours to fix a one minute decision.  What drivers are you currently using?  I have the 3.2 that came with the card.  The 3.8 didnt help the flicker and choppiness increased so out they went.  One more question, is the number and lettering on your default aircraft sharp and easy to read.  Mine is horrible even though everything else looks great.  Have tried a million things to fix it to no avail. Anyway, Ill report as soon as possible and well go from there.....Cavity

The thing is, you are still a live when they start to eat you.

3.9 runs well as did 3.8 on my system.
No noticeable improvement COF/CFS3.
Offers new resolution settings which don't provide a performance increase my limited monitor.

>:( i am experience the same crap on my new DELL. I have the ATI Radeon 9800 XT video card and when I boot up FS9 (FS2004) the screen flickers. Another thing I don't understand why with a 3.2 ghz processer and a 256mb video card I still can't max out all of FS2004 settings. Some settings are on high already but some of the other settings are on medium. Like the terrain just what kind of power is FS2004 asking for to run on all cylinders.  ???

erm....i think your pc is badly optimized. my pc's got less hardware power than yours ,but i can still play FS9 with almost all sliders maxed out. even the framerates are still quite good.

See the info on the "driver cleaner" program that is mentioned in the otehr ATI thread up in the FS 2004 forum.  It may be the solution for the crashes.

Pretty sad that you need a "solution".  ;)

best,

you don't need to remind me Jbaymore, I know it is disgraceful! That is why I come to Simviaition. If the world had a forum for people to discuss common problems. Maybe the whole world wouldn't be screwed up.

Think about it if the Israelis and Palastinians could sit down at a table and discuss their issues peacefully in a forum like this. You know to discuss their problems maybe all the attacks and terrorism bombings would come to an end! I am sick of their seasaw game they are playing with each sides citizens life!

But hey that is not what this thread is about! I am going to check that thread on ATI driver cleanup like you mentioned! Thanks alot JBaymore!
