Re-Skin my TSR.2

Postby Firebar » Sat Mar 10, 2007 12:21 pm

with my tsr2 model the colours are wrong, the tail flash has been reversed, i have tried using DTXBmp to edit this and so far so good, however when i dwap this new file name for the old one next time i try to load the file the visual model cannont be displayed. does anyone know what i am doing wrong, could it be that DTXBmp saves as DDS files not the origonal file types or is my editingcorrupting the .mdl file

All modern aircraft have four dimensions: span, length, height and politics. TSR-2 simply got the first three right.

It's usually best to use the same texture format as the original texture. DXTBmp will display the format when you open a texture & can also save out in all FS Extended BMP formats. Click File/Save As/Extended Bitmap & select the desired format from the "Save as type" options. I don't how this could affect the MDL unless you tried editing it. There should be no need to change the texture name.

PS. Tell me where I can download this aircraft so I can check it out for you.

You can do this with DXTBmp. Follow these instructions carefully.

Open Tsr_____.5AF in DXTBmp & send it to your paint program.
Repaint it as necessary, then save it & reload it into DXTBmp.
Now in DXTBmp click Image/Flip Image. Click File/Save As/Extended Bitmap & save it in Extended 256 colour format.
The saved file will be named Tsr_____.BMP
Find the file & manually rename it back to Tsr_____.5AF (You will have to move or delete the original file first.)
Now try it in CFS2.
