Welcome to SimV Peter!

Well the F6F hellcat is probably missing from your aircraft folder. Maybe you should do a reinstall. Don't take my word as absolute advice though. Hagar (Doug) must be here somewhere, he knows how to solve problems! ;D

Hi Peter, and Welcome to SimV!

First thing you'll need to do is check in your CFS2 Aircraft Folder...

Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 2\Aircraft

... and make sure your Hellcat is in there. the folder should be called "F6F_HELLCAT" (Don't quote me on the folder name... I don't have CFS2 on this computer so I can't check). Then come back here and let us know.

Good Hunting,
Brandon

YAK52PM first welcome to forum friend. Your problem is a common one. It happens quite often with this program.

For reasons not understood by most of us if not all of us. It sometimes does not recognizes one of the Stock planes folder.

The solution is very simple. If you have a backup CFS2 install all you have to do is to go to your backup aicraft folder. Copy and paste the Hellcat folder in to the CFS2 your are using to fly in.

If you do not have a backup CFS2 install then you can always reinstall the program over the original install. Just make sure you press Media when reinstalling over the program. This way you can keep most if not all of your previous upgrades.

There is almost always a solution with problems with this program. All you have to do is ask and we will try to help you to the best of our ability.

My subgestion is for you to always have a backup install CFS2. That way you can fix problems a lot easier. Another subjestion for you is not to install to many upgrades at one time. Take your sweet time and enjoy the process while you improve this program through the many upgrages and planes plus Miscs available thruogh this Website and many others .

Enjoy the ride and watch your Six.

If you have a questions please come back. There are no Dumb questions. The only dumb questions are the ones you do not ask.

I hope I have been helpful

PS in the post call 'Interested In Finding new Things" We have a large collection of Websites dedicate to this program. Check it out.

Sorry this is a bit late but I somehow missed it. I could suggest several things to try but your best option might be to Reinstall CFS2. That should definitely fix your problem. Follow the instructions (bordered in red) on my CFS2 FAQ page carefully. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2faq.htm

Glad my suggestion worked Peter. It fixes most problems & is usually much quicker than trying to figure out what caused them. ;)

Well, sometimes i do prefer to know the root of the cause, cos reinstalling can be troublesome especially with 2CDs to mess with (and i do like the sense of adventure of finding out wats wrong) Sometimes it doesn't work no matter how hard i try and here i come for solutions. Now the main thing (I'm asking for help):

I actually has a similar problem as YAK52 but mine is it does not show any errors at all, it just revert back to the desktop. I was still flying it fine yesterday and today it just refuse to run. I have absolutely not touched anything (no new addons or anything). Any idea whats wrong?

Some of these things are easy enough to figure out but if you've tried all the usual options without success it's much quicker to Reinstall. Saves a lot of headscratching too. ;)

Try rebooting your PC first. That can fix many of these problems & it's surprising how many people don't even think of doing it. If not I suspect you changed something even if it has nothing to do with CFS2. If you can think of anything you changed, no matter how unrelated it appears that could be your answer. It could be an automatic Windows update or something like that.

I can't think of anything else offhand but I will do my best to help. I'm somewhat handicapped these days as I have no knowledge of WinXP.
