Turbochargers

When using strictly FS98 AIR files in CFS2, has anyone yet found a way to activate the turbocharger--WITHOUT changing to the FS2000 air files???  Can the FS98 file be modified??  Is there a flag that will work in the aircraft config????

There's a good question that I am interested in finding an answer to also. Thought about that for a year. Still don't see any replies on this site about it. Anybody out there?

I think the "easy" answer is to edit the AIR file.....

In the CFG you can make some changes to get similar effects to turbo it involves changing the power and thrust scalars. The multiplication of these two factors, they say MUST always equal 1.000. However, I've managed to get some interesting results when they come out at about 1.25

[piston_engine]
power_scalar=1.0 ;multiply Hp = effective Hp

[propeller]
thrust_scalar=1.0 ; multiply thrust/hp

I saw a post where someone was going to use "WEP" to imitate a WW2 blower, and adjust the power curve.

You would need MS excell, and the 1% spreadsheet. Not sure if they got it, but it is an interesting concept.

Not sure how long WEP can last or if you can adjust the power output.  8)

Actually the 1% P-36 has WEP added as a supercharger!  The engine goes from 900HP to 1200, so there is your answer! The only question is how long you can make it last.

Apparently CFS2 has BLOWERS! :o

I am not sure how you control the WEP or if you can have 3 WEP settings, but it is definetaly worth looking into!

You would need to adjust the spreadsheet accordingly, but apparently it could be (has been) done!  ;D
