TDS perpetual problem

Prepar3D - Lockheed Martin has taken the FSX platform into a new level aimed at the professional.

TDS perpetual problem

Postby spilok » Wed Jul 22, 2026 9:23 am

What can I do to get back the full wings of my TDS 737's, 757's, 787's for P3d? Something happened a year ago or so, perhaps with a Microsoft update, where when I open a TDS plane, my wings are half...not whole! I've searched my registry to see if any TDS entry can be deleted so I could start over again, but can find nothing. I've tried various fixes that are unbelievably confusing to perform, and I can't get it done to any satisfaction.
Please tell me what I can do so that I can download a TDS plane and have it be complete.

Someone out there can help me. Please let me know.

Thank you,

Stan

HI, What version of P3D do you have? You mention Microsoft - do you mean FSX?

Is it all the TDS aircraft or just some? If only some, can you possibly give an example of those which are good and those with the problem?

Thank you.

Yes. All TDS planes are affected by the half wing problem. I think I probably could correct it if I knew what I could delete in my Registry. There is something in there that TDS is connected to. I have searched but have been unsuccessful. This happened after I tried to clean up all my unused aircraft in P3d (version 5.4). I probably erased something that I shouldn't have. I've tried the very consuming advice on how to restore the wings but I've been unsuccessful.

What can I delete in my Registry (safely) that would eliminate any traces of TDS so I can download a VIRGIN 737-800 from TDS and have it be WHOLE?

I wouldn't do anything like that. That might cause all kinds of issues.
I would do one small thing at a time.
Try moving all the TDS planes in P3D into a Temp folder (for easy re-installation). Make sure you have no TDS planes in your Airplanes folder.

Then I would restart your PC and start P3D. See if everything looks normal. See if any other aircraft have display issues. If all looks good. Close P3D again.

Then move one TDS aircraft back into the Airplanes folder. Start up P3D and see how it displays.

I will certainly try that particular ORDER you recommend but I may have tried that in the past. I'll do it again and see if I didn't do it correctly. Thank you for being involved in trying to help me with this problem.

I followed your instructions perfectly; however, the TDS jet (800) comes back with half wings. There's got to be something in the registry which controls that. I appreciate your help though.
Thanks,

You should follow the instructions at the top of the aircraft.cfg file.

The following is from a TDS 737 for FSX, but they will be similar for P3D.
So the top of your aircraft.cfg file should look something like this:

// WARNING NEVER TAKE OFF "FREEWARE_(C)_TDS_16AUG2013" from title= -------------------------
// If you do those , wings will be gone and other unexpected things will happen. |
// Title must be under 127 character since FSX will cause error when exceed. |
// If you have any problems please find our Facebook Group Support Page at |

// +D ... Option Decal |
// +B ... Option Beacon Position |

// Number after Above is Hex and checks at Bit |
//0 = 0000 | DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING
//1 = 0001 | BETWEEN THESE BRACKETS
//2 = 0010 |---- THIS IS INFO FOR OUR
//3 = 0011 | SECURITY CODES AND MODEL
//4 = 0100 | OPTIONS.
//5 = 0101 |
//6 = 0110 |
//7 = 0111 |
//8 = 1000 |
//9 = 1001 |
//A = 1010 |
//B = 1011 |
//C = 1100 |
//D = 1101 |

The rest of the cfg file will follow.

I have never changed that CFG in any way. I do remember last year deleting planes in my Airplane Folder (under Sim Objects) that I did not want to keep. Perhaps I deleted something in a TDS plane inadvertently.
My question is "HOW can I get everything back so that when I download a TDS 737-800, 787, or TDS 757, I get the whole plane again?" What's possible solution?

All I can suggest is that you delete (store in a folder outside of the sim) your current TDS aircraft and download them again.

Then, if things return to normal, you can reintroduce the models you have now, one by one, ensuring they work as they should.

It's the only thing I can think of. Sorry.

All my TDS aircraft have long ago been deleted. If it has half wings...100% of them do, it's instantly deleted. There are no TDS airplanes in my airplane folder.

Hi,
Don't waste your valuable time searching for a registry key that controls the visibility of the wings, you"ll find none.
The installation of a TDS model is a simple copy/paste process.

There are some sites that bundle the contents of the aircraft within an installer to help less skilled sim-flyers to install
them, in this case they leave traces in the registry only for the purpose of uninstalling the aircraft should the user decide to do so.

I guess you probably know that the wings visibility depends on the appearance of a very specific string within the title of the
particular livery you are trying to load.

If this part of the title is not there then a piece of logic within the exterior model of the aircraft(the *.mdl file under the model folder)
will disable the visibility of the wings.

This piece of logic is coded in XML syntax exactly as XML gauges, under the panel sub folder of an aircraft, are.

With the windows 11 upgrade of November 2024 Microsoft changed something in the way XML strings functions handle strings.
This broke the original syntax of the logic in the model which leads to the missing wings.

The same is true for the additional items in the title string that start at +A and control the visibility of different types of antennas, beacons, etc.

Back in November 2025 Mr. Hiroshi Igami, the chief designer in TDS, released models addressing this issue.
These models are only available in the TDS support forums.

So, make a search in google for "TDS Boeing 737 support forum" (without the quotes).
Choose the very first option: TDS 737V2/V3 Support
This is a Facebook (Meta if you prefer) forum so you need to have a Facebook account.

You must become a member of the forum in order to download the required files.
The access is not immediately granted, you may need to wait for some time, probably no more than a day.

Once access is granted you"ll see at the top horizontal menu an entry named Files, punch it and you"ll be
presented with the different files available, download what you find suitable for your needs.

Some additional info:
The models are of version 3 (V3) this means that they are compatible with liveries painted with that particular
paint kit.

There is an additional gauge: TDS_B3_OptionMenu (included in the download), that needs to be copied to the panel folder of the aircraft.
A new window needs to be added to the aircraft.cfg file to handle this gauge, it is documented in the download with a proper example.
The purpose of this gauge is to handle the visibility of the different antennas, beacons, etc, that can no longer be handled by the code
in the exterior model.

If you find it difficult to assemble a complete aircraft from scattered files perhaps you can politely ask Mr. Evans to help you in this matter,
he has kindly done so for other members.

Regards
