The floor is Water

Postby meesh42 » Wed Sep 04, 2019 4:21 am

Hey guys

Couldn't find any threads on this subject but I'm sure its happened to someone, I'm at my wits end with this, recently inherited at custom built PC which I'm using for flight sim (don't ask me about specs as I have no idea    ) everything is all fine and dandy, except for that the land and mountains have water, I've tried everything from juggling around the priority of scenery, to uninstalling and re-installing FSX to no avail, the only thing I had to do differently when I first installed it, was upload all the scenery into the scenery library because for some reason, it didn't install when the game was fully installed (think I stopped at 0402 as I got fed up, but I assume everything has to be installed).

I've got no scenery mods whatsoever with it, other than the REX 4 stuff that I got during a sale on steam. I also tried the terrain.cfg mod that was on simviation and followed instructions and still the same problem. I ran this exact same setup on my laptop, which was borderline rubbish, and I had no issues with it, so I don't understand why it's an issue on a modern, up to date unit

Any help with this is greatly appreciated. O0

You simulator is just not installed correctly.
I would advise you to uninstall it properly, by using the windows control panel then add/remove programs, and wipe out manually all the local files that were left over after uninstall, like the c:\users\your name\appdata\microsoft\fsx folder, for example.

Once this is done, reboot the computer and launch the install again.
If it's FSX Steam, then let it complete without aborting anything.
If it's FSX on DVD, ensure you launch the setup as administrator.

Right, done all of that, and it's still the exact same when I reinstalled it, I dunno if I've missed any steps, or there is something missing

Difficult to offer any help unless you post screen shots of the problem.

I don't understand the "floor" is water.

Which entries to you have in there ?

my take on being amusing :P its basically the scenery texture, it was at one stage showing water in mountains and in places where it shouldn't be, e.g. green parts on the airports. tried doing the following things at the top to no avail, I've even had to manually install the scenery files into FSX with no results, starting to run out of options with it

I can do, I'll take a screenshot when I get home, if anything, I assume it should be all the numbered ones at the top with all the location scenery e.g. st maarten, las vegas etc at the bottom

Understood. I run FSX-SE. I fly in the UK and Europe mostly without any problems.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

in all fairness, not tried europe yet, only because I've been spawning at friday harbour as default to check scenery all the time, in my mind, if it ain't right there, its not right anywhere

There's definitely a problem in your library.
These 1xxx default areas shouldn't be on the top. They should appear just between the scenery 400 and the SAME.

I did spend last night jiggling it around, moved all the named scenery folders to the top, so I'll move the 1xxx folders to where you said

Out of curiousity, what are in them folders?
