The oddest thing I've ever seen

Postby jrbirdman » Mon Aug 20, 2018 6:24 pm

Everything on my computer looks normal, FS9 startup and menu; normal. However, when the sun m opens to the world, the clouds are pinkish, the sky greenish and once even rainbow, and my ground and aircraft look like they are in the night, mind you this is at 12:00pm noon! The only thing I did was restore my original world textures after trying a set that I didn’t care for much. Tried to fix by retrying to install my REX and GePRO textures as well and to no avail. Any ideas for a fix? Kindest regards, Jeremy

And to think I was the only person that something like this could happen to.
How did you remove the scenery or textures it looks as if something was left behind.
Now I am not trying to bash you but did you make a backup before you change anything.

GOLDEN RULE #1 never change anything without making a backup. NO MATTER HOW SIMPLE IT LOOKS
I do not even ad AI without making a backup first.

What you have/had here is a case of brilliantly-colorized tonal markers along the top of some/all of your sky textures bitmaps. Look across the top of the 32 x 32 textures, there are 140 of them altogether located in your main FS2004/Texture folder. Here is an example of this, created for one of my many reverse-engineering studies in learning which tonal markers across the top of the .bmps would affect what things in the sim's displaying...

Making rich, brilliant colors for the markers along the top, then...

...observing exactly what is affected in the sim within the specific sim timing of each particular sky texture. Interesting, yes?

Here's another screenshot illustrating the effects of that same edited dawn sky texture's tonal markers, posted above...

Hey, akoyeh, what airport is that you're flying over? I wanna redo (hyperaccuracize) that with AFCAD, looks intriguing. Thanks!

As for the first pic of those red clouds...Yow. I'm not sure if that looked like a video from The Fixx or some B-rated Sci-Fi movie, LOL. Most interesting!
