The nVidia 1060 GTX 6Gb works very well but the CPU is the most important, preferably hyper-threaded ones.
I run FSX Acceleration on Win7 x64 with the following hardware:
- EVGA Geforce GTX 1060 6Gb
- AMD FX 8 cores @ 4.3Ghz (1)
- Corsair DDR3 16Gb
Screen resolution maximum @ 1920px wide, FPS limited at 40, Airline AI traffic at 100%,
Almost all settings at ultra or high, with Steve's DX10 scenery fixer.
... but I still only get 10 FPS when landing at Heathrow.
(1) The thing is, I have an AMD FX CPU and even though it is quite beefy, it is not hyper-threaded like an Intel i7.
This means I only use 3 cores out of 8! The first 2 are reserved for Windows, then 3, 5 and 7 are for FSX, while cores 4, 6 and 8 work as hyper-threaded cores (even though they are physical cores). ... I know ... confusing, but I get better results this way rather than dedicating my remaining six cores fully. All-in-all, get an Intel i7/i9 or an AMD Ryzen 7 (has hyper-threaded cores) for maximum CPU power.
