Dangerous files

Postby nichos » Sun Dec 09, 2018 7:00 am

Hi,

1. Every time I try to upload here a jpg file, be it 829KB or 2.74MB this error comes up:-
"413 Request Entity Too Large".

2. Also in trying to download utility "I got me a "FLYPAD" it says:

Security alert and
Woah that download is dangerous, may be virus, spyware etc.

Can you help?

According to the image upload guidelines, the max image size is 350kb.

No idea about the download problem, but occasionally some virus protection apps go off the rails and sends up a flag. The site admin verifies all files on the download pages are clean.

Hi :)
Upload limits are described in the upload page.

Allowed Types: jpg, gif, png
Max size per file: 350kb. 2000 pixels wide
Max size for all files combined: 1500kb.
Max size for Avatar images: 15kb/120 pixels wide
Max size for Signature images: 30kb/600 pixels wide

As Boikat said, all files are indeed scanned on the server, by me (as part of backups) and by Google as part of their advertising standards. (we use Google ads & others)

In addition - if anyone ever has an issue with a file we/I want to hear about it so if there is an issue - the file can be examined by me and anyone else who wishes to review it.
Can you please let us know what file exactly you had a problem with? - This?

Must be it, Pete, albeit a mite puzzling way that he put it, yes:

Thank you,

I now reduced the sizes & hope I will succeed here with these two showing a warning when I tried to download this file from Utilities "Flight Management Automation for FSX 747 (FMA)".

Sorry upload does not seem to work here, when I click on "upload attachment" the page changes with no option to browse for a file. What is going on?

Hi again,
Image upload page is linked at top of forum (here)

Regarding the file you are concerned about I presume you are talking about this file?

https://simviation.com/1/search?submit= ... on&x=0&y=0

Scanned with Norton again and clean. If anyone else would care to scan it it would help confirm it is clean - of if there is any anti virus that finds an issue with it I will take further action.

I did download the files to check them, I think mcafee is stopping you from downloading them. Also I extracted the zip files with no problems.

Than you,

you hit the nail on the head, uninstalled Mc fee from my PC & downloaded the files with no further nasty warnings.

That Mc fee was forced on me with the unwanted w10 update.

Nice to see you have resolved your issue.
McAfee - Probably the one 'anti virus' program I would avoid like the plague. I also had it installed with an Adobe Flash update or similar. You have to be careful to unclick the 'install McAfee' box. That alone is bad online practice. It should not be checked like that. It must catch millions out.
McAfee caused all kinds of problems for me when I did once try it - I was glad to get rid of it. Even uninstalling wasn't easy as it left behind garbage.

Get AVG, Avast, Panda, etc ... even Windows Defender is better ...
