GTX 980ti vs GTX 1070

Postby scruffydog » Wed Oct 24, 2018 8:17 am

Looking at upgrade from GTX 970 to either the 980ti or the 1070. Any thoughts on which card would be best for FSX?

Will take a stab at it. Am certain that my 1070ti has a better pixel fill-rate for my sim applications than a standard 1080 does. Therefore, it's a good guess that the 980ti may well pump out more pixels than a standard 1070 does for flight simulation applications. My best guess.

It is a combination of different
things so you must think more wider.
If your computer is not good enough
is GTX 980ti vs GTX 1070 not the only issue.

Comparing your expressed interests with your listed system specs as well as researching a bit, have discovered that both 980ti and 1070 pump out about the same number of pixels/sec, slight edge to the 1070. Power consumption of the 980ti is greater by over 15%, its recommended minimum is a 600w PSU whereas the 1070's is a 500w recommended minimum. Either will do, though for FSX I'd go with the 1070. A good match for your listed system, in my estimation, and will well out-perform your 970, a night and day difference, as well as use less power (and that means cooler running too).
