"HJG Website Update - 3 Years In The Making"

It's been 4 since HJG first launched its DC-10 inventory. Within a year of that original release though it was already rethinking this entire project .... given the fidelity gap which then existed between its L-1011 and DC-10 panels.

Upgrading the original DC-10 panel releases was considered essential in order to parallel the quality of both projects. HJG is therefore now pleased to announce release of its "NEW" DC-10 project.

This revision represents some 3 years (2 years and 11 months to be precise) of study, consultation, compilation, testing, and adjusting .... assisted by significant R/W support and driven by the dedication and efforts of George CARTY, Mike MONCE, and Benoit PLAMONDON .... aka "the HJG in-house development team".

This project isn't just a panel revision only. In fact it's "an entirely new project" composed of each of the following components ....

12 new panels (featuring both standard and tape engine instrumentation) .... each of which are also now "aircraft type specific.

PLEASE NOTE: These "NEW" panels are now both "FS2004 and FSX compatible" and composed of all the following features ....

- New captain and F/O view main panel view options with improved gauges.
- Aircraft/Engine type calibrated engine gauges.
- Dynamic weight and flap detent calibrated V-REF chart (with auto-updating T/O and landing data).
- Multi-functional AP MCP with both VS and IAS pitch modes, VOR/INS/GPS navigation, and auto approach, and fully automatic dual AP controlled auto-flare/autoland capability.
- Dual AT with Thrust Rating Computer interactivity.
- WX radar with colour display.
- Operating windshield wipers.
- FE panel with functional APU, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fuel system (with both transfer and dumping capability .... and external vapor effects).
- APU and GPU assisted engine startup scenarios.
- New overhead panel with ground support communications.
- New center pedestal panel .... with a new spoiler lever arming and auto-deployment function.
- New panel/gauge night lighting/illumination.
- T/O V-Speed call outs.
- FPDA GPWS altitude call-outs and other alerts.
- FPDA gear wind effect (FS2004 only)
- Both the ability to perform partial or complete cold & dark panel configuration and engine startup options .... as well as default pre-configured/ready to go option (for those whom do, and don't, like systems complexity respectively).

11 "NEW" DC-10 aircraft base packs ....

- DC-10-10 V3.0
- DC-10-10CF/F V3.0
- DC-10-15 V3.0
- DC-10-30 V3.0
- DC-10-30CF/F V3.0
- DC-10-30ER V3.0
- DC-10-40 V3.0
- DC-10-40D V3.0
- DC-10-40F (HGW) V3.0
- DC-10-40F (LGW) V3.0
- DC-10-40I V3.0

.... each of are supported by the following ....

- New FDE (essential for various elements of these new panels to be able to function).

- Some minor 3D model editing.

And 3 "NEW" (UI) sound packs have also now been released follows ....

- GE CF6-6 turbofan (DC-10).
- GE CF6-50 turbofan (DC-10-15 & -30).
- P&W JT9D turbofan (DC-10-40)
.

PLEASE NOTE: Each of the above sound packs have been recompiled in accordance with the new base pack/FDE parameters and are offered as "separate" FS2004 and FSX specific files.

For further information concerning this "NEW" DC-10 project release please refer to HJG's following website announcement ....

One could get lost at the Engineer's panel.

That's why we offer "very thorough" documentation :)

These simulations actually load into FS with a default engines running and everything (excerpt the bare essentials .... such as lighting, radios, navigation, and YD etc) all pre-configured .... a scenario intended for those whom don't like/want systems fidelity/complexity.

There are 2 different CTRL+E initiated auto-engine startup options too .... using either the APU or GPU .... the latter being quite a rare scenarios for DC-10's, but, provided by us none-the-less.

THEN .... these simulations also allow one to create their own cold & dark scenario/s .... requiring manual systems configuration and engine startup procedures .... all of which are aided by tutorials provided within our forum based online manual.

We even offer a video tutorial as well .... for the APU and GPU assisted manual engine startup and panel configuration scenarios.

These simulations .... as are currently offered by HJG ... are a very comprehensive package .... thanks to the efforts of George, Mike, and Benoit.

FYI ....

We have today updated our DC-10-10, DC-10-10CF, DC-10-15, and DC-10-40 (NWO/NWA version only) Aircraft Base Packs with new "V3.1" files .... to correct some "very minor" Model related display issues which became evident post release.

PLEASE NOTE: None of these very minor issues affected the performance or functionality of any of these new DC-10 simulations.

We have also today released an updated "V2.1" DC-10 Panels Gauges/Core Files package for our new DC-10 Panels .... this update simply enables the T/O V-Speed Call-Outs to work "in FSX" also.

For further information/clarification regarding these updates please refer to the following HJG forum announcemrnt of today ....

Do any of the HJG aircraft work in P3D v4? I have loved the fsx Versions but have gone the P3D route.

Thanks

Only caught up with this just now.

Our new DC-10 simulations are FS2004 and FSX compatible only .... no P3D compatibiliy at all I´m sorry.

Though if they work in FSX they probably work the same in P3D up to v3. Just not v4 +

"HJG DC-10 EXTERIO NIGHT LIGHTING EFFECTS PATCH"

Somehow .... and I "DO NOT" know how .... the tail logo illumination, fuselage landing light reflection, and wing exterior "lighting "effects" files (PLEASE NOTE: I´m talking about "lighting effects" files only here and not the actual lights that are hard coded into each 3D DC-10 model and which function perfectly) have become separated from the panel gauges/core files package we recently uploaded.

Those whom have downloaded our DC-10´s "prior to" this latest re-release .... and whom performed full installations of either the original 2014 released or 2015 updated products .... and whom have (hopefully by now) upgraded or replaced these past version simulations with our latest/new DC-10 releases will/should already have these exterior "lighting effects", by virtue of these files having already been installed, and therefore won´t be cosmetically disadvantaged by their absence from the latest panel gauge/core files package .... provided everything was originally installed correctly to start with of course.

Those whom have downloaded and installed our latest DC-10 release/s (of August 17th) .... and for the very first time .... won´t have these cosmetic lighting effects though due to their (mysterious) absence from the latest panel gauges/core files package.

ANYWAY ....

To resolve this minor issue patch is now available for download in order to add the missing exterior tail logo illumination, fuselage landing light reflections, and wing light night lighting effects files to each DC-10 simulation.

This patch is accessible per the following HJG forum posting ....

http://tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9203/dc-10-lighting-effects-patch

Without these effects files the exterior night lighting appearance of each DC-10 will appear like this ....

Image

Upon installing the missing effects files the exterior night lighting appearance of each DC-10 will then appear like this ....

Image

Image

PLEASE NOTE: The absence of these cosmetic night lighting affects files "DOES NOT" impact flight performance, panel systems functionality, or audio fidelity in any way shape or form .... HOWEVER .... in the interests of providing a simulation that´s as fully featured "as we´re currently able to produce", this´s a detail we want to rectify .... for the pleasure of everyones enjoyment of these simulations.
