Pemberton to Hope British Columbia Canada

Postby Flying Trucker » Sun Feb 11, 2018 10:38 am

Good morning all... <<q

Good day to do some Flight Simming...Freezing Rain outside...

Another scenic cross country suggested to me by Stephane "Daube" that is less than a hour depending on simulated aircraft type.
You can find several Bush Strips if you don't do the Direct Route...making for lots of short field take-offs and landings.
For the Float and Seaplane Aviator there is no problem finding water to practice off of.

Again I used three different simulated aircraft and never changed my Game Sliders or the Frame Rates from previous simulated flights...this electronic gizmo seems to work alright.

Windows 10 Home and Microsoft FSX Deluxe + Acceleration
Orbx Scenery
Orbx Weather Theme

Aircraft...Payware
Alabeo...C195 BusinessLiner, D17 Staggerwing, Waco YM5F

Departure: Pemberton "CYPS" BC Canada
Arrival: Hope "CYHE" BC Canada

Cessna 195 Departing Pemberton "CYPS" British Columbia, Canada

IFR...REALLY...I follow roads and rivers...

D17 Staggerwing overflying a Bush Strip on same Flight Plan
Did a number of screenshots of the D17 Staggerwing but this is the only one I thought worthy of posting

Waco YM5F...liked this screenshot because I thought it was a bit different

Hope Airport "CYHE" just above port wing of the Waco YM5F

There are quite a few Gliders on this airfield which I did not get good screenshots of...where I parked there are a few Glider Trailers

Comments and Advice most welcome... ;)
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Very nice shots Doug.I know that area around Hope
very well. My family has a summer cabin in Tulameen.
We drive past there on the way.

They made the first Rambo movie there.

Hi Anthin

Thanks again for your comments.

I did not reload REX Plus Overdrive or Flight Simulator Water Configurator (FSWC).

Using only the Orbx Weather Themes in the Game.

You need to come back here for a visit...we can meet half way for a wobbly pop or we have children on both coasts so Victoria is nice... ;)

Thanks Doug.

Depending on health issues,I have been thinking
about a holiday if not this year then next. I have been to Victoria quite a few times.
Used to take the ferry over to Swartz bay and drive down .

If I do make it meeting up would be great. I miss my Family a lot,so I really want to try.

All the best ..Anthin.

Hey Doug, nice to see you trying these routes :) This one is one of my favorite for "medium-long" flights with low and slow aircrafts.
Your shots are really great too ! 8-) Looking forward to your next flight.

Thanks Stephane... <<q

Really enjoyed these two cross countries and will be doing them again in different aircraft.

Always looking for interesting places to view from just above the tree tops... <<v

Then I have another flight for you ;) :

You start from Hanel Field (0OR9), a very small airfield on a hill, and you go south. You will immediately spot the volcano named Mt.Hood. You should see, between the departure airfield and the volcano, some sort of lava lake. Anyways, just pass next to the volcano, enjoying the landscape.

From there, continue going south-south-west (be careful, you'll be very close from the eastern border of the PNW region) , in direction of a small grass airfield named Santiam Junction State (8S3). You can land there if you need a pause, but be careful, the runway is very short and bumpy ! But the airfield has some small buildings and trucks.
Around that area, you should be able to enjoy some very nice landscapes, including some photorealistic mountains/volcanos (smaller ones), lava fields and very vast and dense forests. You really don't want an engine problem over there.

From that airfield, continue going south. You should pass not so far away from another small airfield named McKenzie Bridge State (00S). I don't recommend it to you, as it's totally empty. Just keep it on your right a few miles away, and keep your eyes on the nearby "Three Sisters", three small volcanos that should appear on your left in the distance :D

Once you have 00S on your right and the three sisters on your left, head south-west toward Oakridge State (5S0). This will be your destination. That small airfield is on top of a hill nearby a small town, surrounded by slightly higher hills/mountains. I usually land facing East, the parkings are on the other end of the runway. But there is a small hill which might be an obstacle when landing that way, so watch your approach ;)
