Of Joysticks and Gamepads.......

Postby Fozzer » Mon Nov 30, 2015 4:38 am

..... ....!

I've just installed "Grand Theft Auto 5", (after purchasing it at half price from Steam), and I am immediately transported into the frustrating world of...GAMEPADS!

I now have a number of different Steam Games in my arsenal, and they mostly require the use of a Gamepad to manoeuvrer around, and there's no way in a million years that I can ever remember the necessary "button", etc, on my Logitech Gamepad to push, to get something/anything to happen.... :? ....!

Dancing around the sky using my trusty Joystick is easy-peasy, but trying to master the use of a Gamepad in a hectic computer game drives me crazy!

I try drawing the Gamepad on a piece of paper in front of me and identifying all the required buttons, but trying to scan the piece of paper whilst avoiding a hail of bullets from a very nasty man always results in my untimely death...

...every 2 minutes (or less)... ...!

Its so frustrating...and I am far to old to master all the complexity of the; "Gamepad".... ...!

Does anyone else here find it easy, or enjoy using a; "Gamepad"?..... ;) .... ....!

Paul....padding around.... :geek: ...!

There are some very good "aircraft flying" sequences in GTA V, but I die, very quickly, every time, before I can locate the Airfield!... :shifty: ...!

I know what you mean Foz; I have the same trouble with the nasty little things. I think they are strictly for kids with ADHD. So far, I've shied away from GTA V but regularly play TBOGT, which I find hilarious. I wish you could use a joystick to fly the helicopter though. It's dissapointing to hear that GTA V is gamepad only; are you sure it can't be adjusted for keyboard and mouse?

Everything seems to be tied to STEAM these days (which I hate with a passion) so I mosly stick to older games which have better gameplay even if the graphics aren't as good.

Same problem here most of the games are far to complicated for me. :? My game pad sits on the desk daring me to use it and humiliate me yet again. :? Give me Doom, Descent and Lemmings any day  and don't get me started on the DCS World Huey  that is just impossible for my addled brain to cope with.

Cheers

I'm currently using a Logitech Dual Action Gamepad for FS and I love the thing; it just seems to work better for the space I'm using right now than a Joystick or Yoke. I have good feel for the Control surfaces, and the other buttons are nicely placed for other A/C functions.

Alan :o
