REX Essential Plus Overdrive & P3d V3

Prepar3D - Lockheed Martin has taken the FSX platform into a new level aimed at the professional.

REX Essential Plus Overdrive & P3d V3

If anyone has paid the small fee to use REX Essential Plus Overdrive with both FSX and P3d V2.X, here's some good news - It will work with V3.

I have a number of old programs that I haven't tried to use with Prepar3d V3.

Last week I tried REX Essential Plus Overdrive to see if it'd work. All that it needed was to be redirected to the V3 location and it all worked.

I hadn't made any changes, or so I thought. But obviously Rex did.

Finally I installed the REX software I had bought this summer. It was REX 4 Texture direct HD.
I'm not so pleased for the moment, especially for the clouds.
The UI of that software is ok, once you understand what needs to be done to configure a "theme".
However, the previews for choosing a cloud type are not nice at all, they don't give a good view of the clouds you're choosing.

I tried a few cloud types but for the moment all of the look terrible in comparison to the freeware HDEv2 culumus clouds. In the end, I might end up reinstalling these, and keep REX textures only for the water and sky textures...

I have something of a love-hate thing with REX Essential Plus Overdrive.

I haven't used REX 4 Texture Direct, but the clouds in some of the members pictures is fairly good. Keep playing around with them. with a little luck you might get what you want

Having tried all 3 products mentioned here, it's Rex4 Textures Direct + Soft Clouds all the way for me.
Those combined with Opus FSI for my real world weather.

Horses for courses as they say though Guys. :)

Well, this is surprising for me because I have investigated a lot about Soft Clouds, and so far, ALL of the screenshots I've seen of this addon were showing blurry fluffy coulds that all looked worse than the default clouds :/
I guessed I missed the "nice" part of that product. Could you share a few screens that show the benefits of this addon please ?

This is a sample of the clouds that I had before switching to Prepar3d V3.

I'm still trying to get back to them.

Some people absolutely love the "soft clouds", and for the small price, I think that people should give them a try.

But like you I find that they have too little definition, too soft.

In honesty though, they do represent the actual clouds above me from time to time. I just like the ones in the above picture better.
