FSX Cabin alerts

Postby Cusance » Thu Sep 17, 2015 2:49 pm

I dont know if this is of interest to anyone, but I wanted to add some spoken seatbelt alerts but found the alerts in the 'Rome Mission' too precise.
So I have edited these to say:
seatbelts on: 'the captain has turned on the seatbelt sign, please make sure your tray table is stored and seat back is fully upright'

seatbelts off: (I normally place these on the No smoking switch) : 'The captain has turned off the seatbelt sign indicating that it is now safe to move around the cabin'.

so i have made them a bit generic, so they can be used on and off during a flight aswell. If anyone wants copies of these .wav files then let me know.

Why not upload them for all to share? :)

The zip archive with the two wav files can now be downloaded from the FS SOUNDS category.

Hi. Just downloaded the FSX Cabin alerts. Do I put them in the main sounds folder?

This is a great addon but good idea if you include a text file to explain how they work. Where to put them - how they are activated .. ;)

I will delist for now and wait for response. Thanks :)

No.
this example is for the default sound of the default A321 but once you have applied this you will understand how this works and you can do this to other planes.
Copy the two wav files to the sound folder of the A321 (not the FSX main sound folder)
open the sound folder and note that there is a sound.cfg file.
open this file with NOTEPAD
scroll down through this file until you see these entries:
[NO_SMOKING_ALERT]
[SEATBELT_ALERT)
both these will have underneath the file name CabinAlert
change these:
the No smoking CabinAlert file change that name to seat_off
change the SEATBELT alert Cabinalert file to seat_on
you leave the tags [.....] as they are ofcourse.
safe the sound.cfg file

you are done.
TIP:
some planes have their sound aliased to another plane.
In this case do all the above in the sound folder of that aliased plane.
All the plane who alias their sound from that plane will now have the announcements.
