Missing gauges

Postby georgiaracer » Thu Aug 27, 2015 11:21 pm

I downloaded and installed P-38 planes by Copley. None of them had gauges. Panels ended up blank. Every model was missing gauges. They are beautiful planes and I would like to have them complete. Has anyone else had this problem with the P-38 models by David Copley. I downloaded and installed successfully about eight other planes and all the gauges worked except for the P-38's. I am using Windows 8.1 and have a loaded PC. Also, with today's session when trying to launch a newly installed plane, the PC would crash and then restart. After many tries, the plane would load properly and run normally. I have never had this problem before. I never had this problem before I tried Win 10 and FS 2004 would not run, so I rolled back to 8.1 I lost all my ad-dons. and had dozens of updates to contend with. So be warned about Win 10. Thanks for any help on these problems.

Hi

I checked out one example

http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1 ... p&x=16&y=8

I see a gauges folder with gauges inside it. You need to put these (the gauges - not the folder containing the gauges) in the main Gauges folder in your FS2004. I don't actually have FS2004 (gave it to someone who wanted it years ago when I got FSX) so I can't test but I'm pretty sure it's OK.

Pete, I have been doing that and it has not worked for this aircraft. Not sure why. I opened the gauges folder ab extracted the contents to the main gauges folder in FS2004. They just do not show up and I do not know why. Thank you, Pete for responding to my problem. I'll keep on trying.

I've got that very aircraft, it worked fine in XP and then Win7. If the gauge problem did not occur in those other aircraft, I'm wondering if the gauge problem you're having might be a specific quirk related to incompatibility with that particular aircraft and Win10.

In my experience, I've found that sometimes a given aircraft does not co-operate. As long as others are OK, I just pass on it. Problem here is, that P-38 is a real nice one. Don't know of any others out there. Wish I could be of more help.

I'm real cozy with 2 computers running Win7. No plans to upgrade, unless MS comes out with a Win10 new-car-smell version.

I could be wrong here but I would bet that Windows 10 has nothing to do with the issue here.
The only things I can think of that would cause this could be in the panel cfg file. You need to check and make sure of two things here one is to make sure that the panel is not alised to some aircraft that you do not have. And the second thing is that the gauges that are mentioned in the panel cfg file are the ones you put inide of the Gauge folder. I have seen this at leats twice aal it takes is for the person that uploaded the aircraft to put the wrong gauges in the upload
See example below
[Window00]
file=panel_background_640.bmp
file_1024=panel_background_1024.bmp
size_mm=640
position=7
visible=1
ident=MAIN_PANEL
THe first two lines are the bitmapfiles needed for the panel
gauge00=Cessna!ADF,547,87
This gauge is from a CAB file
If the gauges were inside of a CAB file you have to leave them there and put the CAB folder into the gauge folder

Apex already confirmed the gauges show fine in his install. I don't have FS2004 otherwise I'd test it. So nothing is wrong with the aircraft.

Does the OP have W10 installed? Any other clues?
