Postby Milton » Fri May 08, 2015 7:05 pm

HMS Bounty is now available for downloading.

HMS Bounty for FSX - VERSION 1.1
Built Specifically for FSX - (separate package required for FS9)

by Milton Shupe, Nigel Richards, Rob Barendregt, Sasha Rieger, and Rob Ibey. Helmsman by Craig "Full" Richardson

HMS Bounty 18th Century Tall Ship square rigger completely wind driven, individually animated and controlled sails, animated flags with direction and wind speeds, animated helm, and Sail Management Window to control all ship fuctions. Ship responds to wind speeds and direction with yaw, keeling, and pitch depending on sails deployed and yard arm positions. Ambient sounds, variable wind and gale storm sounds, ship's bell, "Salute", anchor weigh/drop all add to immersion.

WILL NOT WORK IN FS9 as it contains FSX native texture formatting and FSX specific sim interfaces. (Separate FS9 package available.)

BIG NOTE: The latest version of FSUIPC is Required for the HMS Bounty to work.

Note: Realism settings should be set to "Hard" for best Wind Effects (Will not work on "Easy" realism in FSX.)

Just uploaded the Version 1.2. This is a simple panel replacement update that improves wind effects on the ship's roll and yaw; much more realistic in handling wind gusts; also improves auto-skipper function in high wind speeds with high gusting winds. Try it in gale force winds :-)

HMS Bounty V1.2 Update for FSX Previous VERSIONS
Built Specifically for FSX - (separate package required for FS9 versions)

by Milton Shupe, Nigel Richards, Rob Barendregt, Sasha Rieger, and Rob Ibey. Helmsman by Craig "Full" Richardson

The update simply replaces the Panel folder for the HMS Bounty.

WILL NOT WORK IN FS9 as it contains FSX native texture formatting and FSX specific sim interfaces. (Separate FS9 package available.)

Version 1.2 upgrades:

1) Further improvements regarding wind effects on yaw and roll based on the confluence of sails deployed, wind speeds and direction relative to ship heading, yard arms angle to the wind, and ground speed.

2) Auto-Skipper greatly improved for high winds and gusts to minimize the showing/hiding of sails and improve roll with gusts

Milton had asked a question about how his ships interacted with Prepar3d V2.5.

If you have Accu-Feel you'll want to turn down the sound effect of water lapping against the hull as it was designed to "lap" against the sheet metal hull of an aircraft.

Fortunately this is supper simple.

Otherwise, so far as I can tell there is absolutely no problems at all.

The pictures should tell the rest of the story.

Another note - Although the ship can be a VERY slow mover ( ), there is no significant FPS drop.

As sailing is my favorite form of travel after flying I downloaded the Bounty. As soon as I get hold of some printer paper I will print the docs.
Has anyone tried using FSrealwx for the weather or does it have to be set with special wind parameters?

Bob,

Any weather engine will do. The only requirement is to have enough wind speed to fill the sails. :-) That can be 4-6 knot winds ... I usually run at least 16 knots or better out on the water.

Thank you for answering the question Sir :-)

Yes, please do get the small update v1.2. It is a major improvement if you like to run high winds and gusts especially and have auto-skipper doing sail management. :-)
