New Eastern Airlines

Postby mustang56 » Fri Mar 20, 2015 3:24 pm

The new Eastern Airlines took delivery of its first a/c in December. A 737-800. They were hoping to start flights this month. Has anyone heard anything about them?

Here it is Eastern fans. They flew their first revenue flight the end of May. A charter flight to -------Havana of all places. Havana was one of Easterns most favorite hijacking destinations in the 70s. They plan to take delivery of a second 737-800 by the end of this summer and start regular service next year hopefully. A happy x-EAL employee.

That hockey stick livery has been on Eastern Airlines fleet since the mid 60s. Eastern first used the aircraft type on the tail when they took delivery of their first 757. It was a deal worked out with Boeing to get the aircraft at a lower cost I believe.

It would have said the same thing to be back then too. I just find it cheap looking and not very imaginative that's all. Mind you the latter cold also cover quite a few airlines...

Guess Im just a little bit partial to both the Falcon livery and the Hockey stick having grown up with them. Father worked for EAL 1959-1988. Myself 1984-1988. Loved every minute. Wish it all the best on its new life.

I was a pilot for EAL from '66-'72 and only knew the hockey stick but was sorry to miss the Falcon of the Great Silver Fleet. A wonderful six years though flying some very nice equipment: B-727, DC-8 & -9.
