The problem is not with the Metric System itself. That is easy enough to understand. However, people like Foz & me who were taught the Imperial System & used it for the first 30 or 40 years of our lives have difficulty in visualising Metric. For example, I know exactly what an inch, foot, yard etc. looks like & can accurately estimate what a pound or a stone weighs without even thinking about it. The Metric equivalents are as foreign to me as the Imperial system is to you.

Understood. I see your problem.

Chinese made tires (tyres) are measured from the outside to the opposite outside which is VERY foreign to me....I measure from rim to rim on the wheel. As it turns out my riding mower is 18x8.50 which sounds like way too much rubber but there you go. Leave it up to wal-mart to further confuse matters. :!:

Tyres in general are very confusing, they are a mixture of both systems. My car has 225/45 16. The width and profile are in millimetres and the diameter is n inches. Who came up with that and why

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
