However, on Gizmag they have two articles that point toward THE END.

The first has as much possibility of happening as the US does of reviving human space exploration beyond the space station. Virtually none.
Scientists demonstrate a robotic muscle 1,000 times more powerful than a human's
"If a so-called "rise of the machines" ever comes to fruition, our chances of survival may have just taken a big hit."
Ain't gona happen.
The subject of the next article could so drastically alter our future for the worse, that I'm quite happy that I won't be around to experience it.
Cause of aging reversed in mice: Human trials may start next year
"With the wide-ranging benefits of reducing disease and enabling a longer, healthier life, reversing the causes of aging is a major focus of much medical research."
I'm far from being a troglodyte, but I don't see where this could lead to good. But I can see absolutely no chance in heck of researchers voluntarily stopping.
And if 99% of them did? Same difference. In fact it wouldn't matter if they all stopped. People in general, and the conspiracy minded in particular, wouldn't believe it.
Added to that, there are people who make a very good living from sowing suspicions and dissention. Truth is unimportant to them, and there are plenty of fools willing to follow a piper.
There are a few minor questions;
Who will get the medicine/treatments?
Well, the rich and powerful, of course. Don't get me wrong, however, I have nothing at all against the rich and powerful. I'd like to be one of them.

The rich and powerful will want to limit such treatment to those who are more deserving, of course.
And the poor will demand it as their right.
How much will it cost?
At first it'll probably cost far more then the average person makes in the US.
THE END
And if it were free? Look at the world population now.
Think about trying to enforce population control.
The "rights to live forever" wars would make the worst war of mankind look like a tea party.
I remember a science teacher from a long time back talking about decay and regrowth in the forests. He was speaking about bacteria, mold, funguses, and other natural processes that break down fallen plant matter.
He said, "Imagine if nothing that fell to the forest floor decayed. Imagine if it just built up, one atop the other."
Well, imagine if no one died, and the population just kept on building up. At some point someone will have to decide who eats and who dies.
Avalanches start out slow, and gather speed as they spread out.
Where can you run?
