My trip to the E.R. yesterday.... Oh Joy!

Postby BLAZE » Thu Dec 05, 2013 4:34 pm

On the third of Dec. I woke up to feeling like I'ed been run over by a truck. Followed by my heart skipping beats here and adding beats
where they don't belong. All messed up man! Still happening as I write this message. I have what the paramedic called (PVC's) Premature
ventricular contractions. ---> (( http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/guide/heart-disease-abnormal-heart-rhythm ))

Now, this ain't nothing new for me. I've suffered with this CRAP since I was in my teens. It just never lasted this long before. Anyway
I was in the E.R. and they treated it like Ahh.. No big deal! They gave me a Xanax and pumped a big syringe full of Beta Blocker in me
and it went back to normal for about 20 minutes then started up again. then they made me sign a paper and sent me out the door. Just like
that, heart still out of wack. The heart specialist said "They don't have anything for my condition" He said the only thing you can do is TRY
to stay calm and stop the caffeine and cigarettes.

I've stopped the caffeine but have yet to stop smoking. The hard part of stopping caffeine is the coffee. It ain't to bad though, I've been drinking
97.7% caffeine free coffee. I already miss the ice tea. I'm also an ice tea junky. I can't find any de-caf tea around here.

Like I said, I'm (as I write this message) in misery right now. Oh well, They say it's not dangerous. The way I feel right now.. I beg to differ!

I tell ya what, these poor dum kids are going to have a rude awakening when they get older. Drinking all those energy drinks. WOW! they'er going
to pay the price later. This is NO FUN MAN!

Just an update on the info of my condition.

This is what I have going on right now. (( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premature_atrial_contraction ))

Click on the rhythm strip at the right. It may not look like much but it feels terrible. And it's every other beat.
not every three beats.

I hope none of my friends here at SimV have this. But in the same token, If you do, maybe knowing your not alone
and the fact that I'm not dead (at least I don't think I am. ) and I've had this curse since my teens.
maybe it will set your mind at ease alittle.

Energy Drinks , no lie about those !!

I never did do those I seen the writing on the wall,, Big Bucks for the manufacturers and even bigger bucks for those who end up in the ER !!!

Here, these are good for you till you end up in the hospital or with severe kidney liver or heart problems.

I never was much of a coffee drinker, but I do like Warm Apple Cider or hot chocolate, more flavor than coffee !

I smoke but occasionally.

I eat all my food basically plain !!!

NO Ketchup , no mustard, no mayoinse, no salt, No butter , no Spicy foods, I been this way since my teens, back in the late 70's.

I rarely ever go see a doctor for anything.

Todays Doc's aren't what they used to be - nowdays their just Pill Pushers for big pharma !

Dwayne, are you sure that this isn't something caused by a pretty girl smiling at you?

That's happened to me a time or two, the pretty girl smiling at me that is. But I now keep my zipper all the way up and I don't get those smiles, or outright laughter, any more. :D

And I'm very sorry to hear that you're drinking caffeine free coffee. :o

   Don't you know that decaf is the Devils brew!

The "Energy Drinks", you definitely want to stay away from those.

"...and the fact that I'm not dead (at least I don't think I am. ) ..."
It's very easy to tell if you're alive or dead;
DEAD & IN HEAVEN
The flight sim is absolutely GREAT!!!! It's hard to tell that you're using a sim!
STILL ALIVE
The flight sim is as good as it ever was. Only a little problem now and then.
DEAD & IN HELL
You'll get back to flying as soon as you can find out why it won't start. No more than a minute or two.

Hope you're doing OK or OKish. Tough.

That makes two of us in the ER recently, me on 11.06. Woke up OK, one hour later, vertigo hit with full force, couldn't stand or lie down, then nausea and sweating. No pain anywhere. Spent 2 days in the hosp, care was terrible, food worse, lost 10 pounds, from 175 to 165.

MRI and chest XRay were OK. No telling what caused it.

Total time spent with doctors talking to me over 2 days: 10 minutes.

A friend who had this awhile back said it will take time, but it will go away.

Would have been nice to hear that from a doctor.

I was 67 days into Medicare when this happened.

By now I'm almost fully recovered. The 1st week was the worst. A real ordeal, so I'm with you all the way here.

Before this, never sick a day except for an occasional flu. And in good shape too.

Caffein, nicotine, and yeah, sugar too. Not good stuff.

We all here hope your doing OK.

Bad for you:
Alcohol.
Fat. (all sorts).
Refined Sugar. (Sweet things, including drinks).
Sex.

Good for you:
Water.
Vegetables, Fruit, Nuts.
Celibacy.

Exercise: In very small doses. (Don't wear things out).

Just passed my annual overall medical examination and blood test with flying colours!

Age=79, 5'-7", 154 Lbs, BMI=124, Blood pressure=127/74, Heart Rate=60 BPM...looking good!

The Practice Nurse was pleased, (and the cuddle was rather nice!).

Eat well, live right, die any way. Me, I smoke like a chimney, cuppa Joe every morning (Was at about 2 liters a night when I worked, now just the 1/2 liter each day), drink real Coke, and Iced tea (no sugar at least, diabetes SUXXORS!!!), and have a lousy diet. I figure, why make myself miserable all day every day for no real good reason other than to live longer, being miserable?? The way I see it, I am just chopping off the Depends and wheelchair years. I'd rather go out with a smoke in my hand, a wench in the other and a good stiff......drink.!

By the same token, the diabetes has gotten to the nerves in my feet and legs, I live every day on opiated pain killers and total misery, just escaping thru flight sims and EQ. I'd rather enjoy the time I have left as much as I can than live on wheat bread and water, and hope when I go it's quick. No "heroic efforts" at ressuscitation or anything. No tubes and hospital beds, lousy hospital food or waking up every couple hours for sleeping pills...The lovely wife and I have an agreement about hospital beds and guns....

But hey! that's just me, each to their own I say! :D

Hope you feel better soonest Dwayne! :D

And to all a great day!

Pat~
Have fun, fly high, far, and free!

Look friend. In all my 73 years, I never heard of anything like that to do with the heart that wasn’t scary or dangerous. Get a 2nd opinion, really. I went through a bout with Atrial fibrillation which made me feel lousy. I got it fixed by radio wave something or other. It took an 8 hour procedure, but that was 15 years ago, never had a re-occurrence. Go for the doc man.

..and while you are at the Doctors, get two other things checked EARLY as well. It could save your life...trust me....>>>>

Blood Pressure!
Prostrate Gland!!

Both deadly if not treated early!

Paul...taking medication for both.... ;) ...(also Thyroid Gland).

If you are experiencing problems with the; "Water Works", (slow, etc), get that Prostrate Gland checked..QUICKLY...Its a killer for a Bloke!!

Blaze, I feel your pain...I too have PVC's, a touch of cardio myopathy and at last count, 10 stents...Next stop for me is the "zipper". You have our support, thoughts and prayers and the only thing I can offer up is that each morning when I get up, I thank God for another day. It sucks getting older! But it beats the alternative.

First off.. Thanks very much for the well wishes guys. It means a hell of a lot coming from you. And thanks for the laughs... ..
Best medicine that..

I didn't want to jinks myself lastnight by saying anything but it went back into rhythm lastnight. I'm not a religious man but Thank God!
Today I was sitting in the car and it popped out for just a second then went right back. Hopefully it was just getting in the last word before it
leaves me alone for a good long while.

Man! If sex is harmful to my condition, then I guess I'm just S.O.L. cause if she comes knockin'.. I don't care if the old hearts out of rhythm
I'm tearin' it up! I'll only quit that when I'm laying in my coffin. 8-)

Speaking of which, I had a real cute nurse when I's in the E.R. Dirty blond hair (mostly dirty) about 5 ft. nice build and smelled like candy.
What made her even more cute was she was real tired, so she had that whole gentle drowsiness thing going on. Sexy!
See, even in the E.R. I can't help myself. :D O.D.B.

P.S. Thanks also to you guys for sharing your hard times as well. I don't pray but I'm hoping the best for you also.
