Orbx announces Iceland Free Demo - Monday release

Postby OldAirmail » Sun Oct 27, 2013 7:50 pm

For those of you lucky enough to be home on Monday the 28th, Orbx will probably release the Iceland Free Demo.
(side note - If you have FTX Global, download from the link on the left. If not, download from the link on the right)

From John Venema at Orbx;
"Yes Ian, final installers will be upload at lunchtime today for the 3-greens from the testing team, so it should be today or tomorrow morning all going well.

To make up for lost time we've added a nice photoreal glacier for you to explore and find"
:)

From the Iceland demo guide;
"Orbx and our partner developer PILOT’S would like to thank you for downloading our free FTX Global (FTXG)
Demo that
covers the entire country of Iceland with the three main FTX Global product layers (BASE, openLC
and VECTOR
)
and also includes a free demo of PILOT’S FSGlobal 2010 FTX Edition elevation mesh."

This demo will give us the first chance to try out all three parts, not just look at pretty pictures.

And looking at those pictures, I think that it's going to be a winner.

I'm trying to decide if I really need open heart surgery tomorrow. Maybe it can wait a while. :D

I thought about downloading it, (I have the Payware version of FTX Global), but from our view of Iceland from Britain, its mostly a very inhospitable country, weather-wise, a bit like Alaska in the depths of Winter, so I might give it a miss for now and wait for somewhere warmer!.... :D

Paul, I think that you've spent too much time flying around in sunny California.

Most planes will have a heater, and I'm sure that the experience of looking at the cold ground won't traumatize you all that much.

Just don't land! When I lived out there in the mid '50s we would drive along the coast. Not a good idea.

I don't know if they still do it, but back then they had miles (kilometers, I guess) of fish hanging on nets to dry out.

I'm not too sure of this, but I think that it was some kind of coastal defense system. :D

You're welcome, Bass.

This will be our first chance to see, in detail, what the upcoming OpenLC & Vector software will look like.
