Ah, good ol' Spaceship Earth. Cool.

from 'In the Wake of Poseidon' on the album from the same name by King Crimson:

"In air, fire, earth and water,
World on the scales.
Air, fire, earth and water,
Balance of change
World on the scales,
On the scales."

and:

"Whilst all around our mother earth
Waits balanced on the scales."

from 'When the Music's Over' on the Doors 'Strange Days' album:

"What have they done to the earth?
What have they done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her,
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and dragged her down"

And then there's this:

"What is, is. What was, was. And what's gonna be is gonna be.
- Archie Bunker

All I can think of right now.

Not to worry there, Paul, we're here to stay. We don't have a "Love it or leave it" option, so we'd better take care of our Mother Earth.

For the life of me, I can never understand the wish of some Folks to fly off and live on other Worlds/Planets...even local ones like our Moon, Mars, Venus..or even Titan!
They have no idea how they are going to survive conditions other than what we, (and everything else), have been designed to be accustomed to, for zillions of years down here on Planet Earth!

..What a daft lot they are!... ...!

Paul....In Fresh Air, Temperature, Pressure, Water, and Gravity!....Love it!... ...!

All this talk of millions & billions doesn't impress me at all. It just makes my head spin. :confusion-questionmarks:

Your neighbourhood is moving at 2 million miles per hour to an object that is 150 million light years away.

Pray tell what object that might be. :?

The Andromeda Galaxy, another armed-spiral like ours. Wasn't so long ago, they thought this galaxy was the entire Universe! Suprise!!

Me, I happen to LIKE it here, but I have been told I am a tad off :D

And we DO have the gengineering tech to be able to survive just about anywhere there is adequate temperature and presssure of some sort to maintain carbon-based life of any kind. Look at some of the "extremophiles" right here on Earth! A little tinkering here, fiddling there, and a gene transplant or five and bing, we can live where they do! :o

And now, I am getting a brain-cramp! too much blood in my coffee system still! Have fun y'all! ;)

Remember people, we are destroying our starship at an increasingly alarming rate, lets hope that we can fix it before it can no longer sustain us.

If not, we follow 99.999999999% of all the species that have ever existed on the spacecraft into the oblivion of extinction, the spacecraft heals it'self over a few thousand years, and perhaps a new species will rise to intelligence, perhaps a bit wiser than we

Have a great future all! :D

One Thursday, nearly two thousand years after one man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change, a girl sitting on her own in a small café in Rickmansworth suddenly realized what it was that had been going wrong all this time, and she finally knew how the world could be made a good and happy place. This time it was right, it would work, and no one would have to get nailed to anything.

Sadly, however, before she could get to a phone to tell anyone about it, the Earth was unexpectedly demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypass, and so the idea was lost, seemingly for ever.

Really cool topic Webb, and as always so good to read all you guys feed back on it. If any of you haven't watched this
very interesting 1983 film by Francis Ford Coppola called "Koyaanisqatsi" (Meaning: Life Out Of Ballance) You should
check it out. It may be quite boring to some of you. But I like it.

Anyway, here is the trailer ----------> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PirH8PADDgQ
