Been looking for this post again! glad I finally found it!

Just wanted to respond: I would give the eye-teeth I have left to be ABLE to go thru all that every time I went flying!!

I have seen so many Marine pilots whose last thought before the cat fires is always " And they PAY me to do this!!"

I knew I ahould have atayed in college! but NOOOO! I had to go and show everyone how tough I was and run off and join the Corps as an enlisted man....what a fool I were then....well then too...?

Oh well, I've had a decent life over all, still regret some descicions tho

I have been fortunate to have put all that kit one once in my life. I worked on Harriers for 10 years of my 12 in a blue suit. Before I left Germany to be returned to the UK, I got a trip in the back seat of a Harrier T10 (still have the pictures to prove it ) The acceleration down the runway was like being punched in the chest and kicked in the rear at the same time. We did now low level, a few aeros , a load of different Harrier-esq approaches and of course a lot of hovering. Sat at 100 feet going nowhere was an odd feeling, but powering away from the hover and climbing out.........well, the G pants came in handy........Keeping the blood upper body as most of it had pooled in my own joystick.......

Best I could ever do was to spend some time on slow nights in the F-4 Phantom II Sim we had on base. Just so happened to be run by a lovely young WM (Woman Marine) who got very lonely on long midnight shifts, and being the helpful soul I truely am....
It was just across the street and down from my shop, so I would meander on over, and help her out. Told my fellow radar techs I was going to excersize, which WAS true, in it's own way...
