I don't know? But I would hazard a guess that that ship is mired in liabilities and no one wanted to touch it until all the I were dotted and tees were crossed.

They didn't wait 20 months. It took 20 months to build the construction to roll the ship in an upright position, into a cradle mounted on the seafloor. That a precision job, you can't just tie a couple of ropes to a ship and start pulling. It has to stay in one piece.

Perhaps they should rename it Costa Plenty.

The ship (or what's left of it) will stay in place on it's underwater supports until Spring next year. Only then will the work be done to get it floating and towing it off to a port in Italy. So for now those islanders still have something to watch Paul.

As i can see, they made a very good job with that ship....................congratulations for that rescue team..............nice work, a lot of brainwork and prepareing before doing the duty.
