I'm a "newbie"

Postby Blaquehardt » Fri Jun 21, 2013 8:17 am

Actually I'm about 60 years old, a disabled/retired professional driver and thank God I got this computer and my Flight Simulator. I'll get into all that later, first I want to thank you all for reading this and being here. What i have is FSX with SP1 and SP2 on Windows 7 and for the life of me I can't seem to get the Aircraft Carrier (of ANY type) to work. I uploaded JAVA 6.1, done about everything except enlist in the NAVY (but I'm too old they say). Anyways, any help here would be great, I'm going flying for a bit but I'll be back here from time to time to check in. Oh by the way, I used to paint and 3D NASCAR and would like to paint aircraft...

Welcome, we need some younger people around here.

I'm not retired yet and the way that they keep pushing back the retirement age I may never get the chance to retire.

As for wanting to land on the aircraft carriers stuff, I can understand that. Shortly after I learned how to land a Cessna 172 on the 10,506 foot long runway at the Philadelphia airport (not as easy as it looks), I felt ready for landing on aircraft carriers too. But that was static aircraft carriers. I wasn't about to try landing on a moving one! NO WAY!

On a more serious note though, I followed the amazon connection from Bass. After seeing the game cover I remember a little about it. For me, there wasn't enough to keep me interested.

Perhaps someone can help, but didn't MS kill off the multiplayer connections for the multiplayer mode?

Welcome to SimV, and don't worry, at 60 you are are still one of "younger" members......I am sure Fozzer and a few others will mention about how they remembered be only 60 once upon a time (many, many, many moons ago  )

It would be wonderful to be a 60-year-old youngster again... ....

...far distant memories!... ...!

Its surprising just how many Old-Age-Pensioners are on the Forum...some hiding in the shadows!...

...Sometimes, they dig their way up, from underground.... ...!

I try every now and again, but I cant remember which way is; "up"... :? ...!

(There are lots of things I can no longer remember....mostly the nice things...).... ...!

Paul...Confucius... ...!

Thanks for all the welcomes and "old man" comments. As long as we are on the subject of age, can anybody tell me when we made the transformation from a "little phart" and an "old phart"? Anyway I'm trying to locate a B29 Stratofortress (or Superfortress) complete aircraft for FSX. Most of the ones I have don't load properly (or its me), and the other is the (I believe) P51 Lightning in a chrome finish (I want for my private plane to fly)...
Anyways thanx for the welcome again... <<s

What i know about is the P-51. Payware A2A with accusim and the Enchantress paint. One of the best ac ever made for FSX.

beautiful aircraft. I'm looking to get into the painting aspect but it's gonna take some research to get going. Anyway my bad about the "P51 Lightning", they didn't make one so I guess it's the P38. If somebody can do it, my colors are black with gold trimmed in red. I'll have my logo pasted here sometime...

Welcome to the Forums! We're a cordial lot, and easy to get along with.

To answer your Multiplayer question... MS and Gamespy parted ways, but many of the FS sites (SimV included) have their own standalone MP servers so's y'all can get together on the internet and fly somewhere. Another handy tool to have is Teamspeak3, which allows everyone on a MP server to converse real time.

A few years ago I had the pleasure and honor to meet a man who was a B-29 gunner, and flew 28 missions over Japan.
This was after he had flown 30 missions as a gunner in a B-24, including taking part in Operation Tidal Wave, the low level bombing of the Ploesti oil fields on August 1st, 1943. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for that mission.

The interesting fact is that this man was the ONLY American of Japanese ancestry serving in the USAAF to serve in combat, and Japanese American to have participated in aerial combat missions in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

His name is Ben Kuroki. <<q
